**CHILD SAFEGUARDING**:Level 3:
The role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

**ROLE PURPOSE**:
Save the Children International (SCI) is implementing “Strengthening Alternative Care systems in Egypt” project funded by Save the Children-Italy. The project aims to ensure that all children without appropriate care in Egypt can benefit from quality family-based care that prioritizes their best interest, safety and wellbeing. This objective is expected to be achieved through strengthening the social welfare workforce, supporting the de-institutionalisation, supporting family tracing and reunification, and legal and policy change. The child protection officer is expected to develop technical guidelines and materials, roll out capacity building training besides documenting the project interventions, identifying and documenting good practices and lessons learned. S/He will support the senior officer in planning and budgeting for the project activities in Aswan and Luxor, and other targeted governorates, and will be responsible for the day-to-day work ensuring quality and timey implementation of activities. S/he will work in close collaboration with local stakeholders

Dotted reporting line: Aswan Field Manager

Staff directly reporting to this post: None

Field travel: The project officer is expected to spend at least 70% of his/ her time in the field in Aswan and Luxor governorates and will be required to travel occasionally to Greater Cairo and possibility other governorates.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
**Project Implementation**:

- Oversee and implement the project activities in the targeted governorates (Aswan, Luxor, Sohag, Qena, Assiut, Elminya and others as identified by the Ministry of Social Solidarity) including planning and monitoring in coordination with the other officers;
- Develop technical guidelines, tools and training materials in coordination with the Senior Officer and Child Protection Technical Advisor;
- Provide capacity building and technical support to government employees and civil society organizations staff as per the implementation plan;
- Provide on the job-coaching and shadowing for trained participants ;
- Conduct follow up visits to the project targeted groups;
- Monitor project’s expenditure on monthly basis according to the project budget;
- Contribute in achieving the project’s indicators;
- Contribute in developing MEAL tools in collaboration with MEAL and project team; and
- Support mainstreaming of SCI policies in all planned activities

- Draft concise, useful and analytical reports and other documents as needed on a monthly, quarterly, annual basis as requested by SCI, donors and other stakeholders;
- Regular documentation for the lessons learned at all implementation stages;
- Document the project interventions/activities and experience resulting from the project; and
- Organize and maintain project filling system..

**Partnerships/Networks**
- Liaise effectively with all the project stakeholders including governmental, non-governmental bodies.
- Ensure proper coordination with relevant child protection actors and service providers as needed.
