**Result 1 Team Lead**

***Primary Duties and Responsibilities**:
Result 1 Lead will direct all technical activities under Result 1, leading the planning, implementing, and monitoring of TRADE interventions for the development of export capacities of SMEs in order to achieve project targets, particularly $225M in exports from SMEs in target sectors. The Result 1 Lead will be responsible for managing and overseeing staff under the result and in developing operational plans and innovative approaches to achieve the project results.

**Role and Responsibilities**
- Oversee and direct all technical activities under Result 1 of the project.
- Lead development and implementation of export-oriented business models (e.g., anchor firms, consortia, clusters, facilitators, brokers, etc.), develop sector initiatives, and oversee TA to NEEREs.
- Manage and oversee all staff under the result and contribute to the development of scopes of work, for both long
- and short-term consultants, and project activities.
- Lead development and implementation of annual project work plan activities under Result 1, in close coordination with Result 2 and 3 leads and other team members.
- Ensure that climate change considerations are incorporated in all aspects of Result 1.
- Ensure that sustainability is considered in each and every activity of Result 1 and built into planning and implementation.
- Oversee and provide guidance to partners and short-term technical experts responsible for implementing Result 1 activities and ensure that deliverables for all experts are submitted on-time and are of the required quality.
- Share results and contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and learning with project leadership, Palladium, and USAID.
- Contribute to developing and implementing gender and social inclusion strategies for Result 1 activities.
- Contribute to effective internal and external project communication related to Result 1.
- Represent the project at public events and meetings as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the project Chief of Party.

**Required Qualifications**:

- An advanced degree in a relevant field such as business administration, commerce, economics, finance, or other relevant or equivalent field (Master’s preferred).
- 20+ years of experience in export oriented economic development, with a focus on TRADE target sectors.
- Expert in domestic and international market linkages and export promotion. Familiarity with anchor firm and other best practice approaches a plus.
- Deep market knowledge and connections in Africa, Middle East, EU, and U.S.
- Has developed successful sector-level export strategies.
- Has delivered firm-level TA, including market intel and linkages, supply chain development, and process improvements.
- Fluent in spoken and written English required. Spoken and written fluency in Arabic strongly preferred.

**Project Overview and Role**:
USAID’s Trade Reform and Development in Egypt (TRADE) project builds on decades of U.S. investments in Egyptian businesses and economic policy with the aim of substantially increasing Egyptian exports from Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The TRADE project focuses on six selected sectors: engineering products, food processing, home têxtiles, ready-made garments, chemicals, and building materials. Through the project, USAID works with the Government of Egypt to improve the trade and investment policy environment and reduce barriers to trade. USAID also partners with business associations and export councils to strengthen the trade services ecosystem for small
- and medium-sized exporters, as well as with private companies to help them access new international markets to increase export sales. TRADE tackles many trade and investment-related issues to sustainably increase Egyptian exports and drive economic growth.
