The
Senior Staff Writer
is responsible for researching, developing, and producing high-quality written content across multiple platforms — including print, digital, and broadcast media. This role requires strong storytelling ability, editorial judgment, and creativity. The writer will also mentor junior writers, contribute to editorial planning, and ensure all content aligns with the organization's tone, standards, and audience needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Content Creation & Writing

  • Research, write, and edit original articles, features, scripts, and reports on assigned topics.
  • Develop compelling story angles that align with the brand's editorial direction.
  • Adapt writing style for different formats (web, print, social media, or broadcast).
  • Ensure accuracy, clarity, and originality in all written materials.
  • Write headlines, captions, and promotional copy to enhance reader engagement.


Editorial Planning & Strategy

  • Pitch story ideas and contribute to editorial meetings and planning sessions.
  • Collaborate with editors, designers, and content producers to deliver complete, polished stories.
  • Participate in developing special editions, campaigns, or thematic content series.
  • Ensure content aligns with SEO, audience engagement, and marketing objectives (for digital platforms).


Quality Control & Mentorship

  • Review and edit work submitted by junior writers or freelancers.
  • Provide constructive feedback and help maintain editorial standards across all outputs.
  • Ensure fact-checking, grammar, and style consistency (following AP, Reuters, or in-house style guides).


Collaboration & Cross-Departmental Work

  • Coordinate with the design, video, and social media teams to ensure cohesive storytelling.
  • Work closely with marketing and PR teams to align messaging when needed.
  • Represent the publication/organization in interviews, press events, or public appearances when assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in
    Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of editorial and CMS experience.
  • Superb English language (C Advanced Level), written and spoken
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and research skills.
  • Excellent editorial & social media skills.
  • Deep understanding of current events, trends, and audience preferences.
  • Proficiency in digital publishing tools and content management systems (CMS).
