- **PROJECT BACKGROUND**

The Business Egypt Program is a five-year, USAID-funded program implemented by DAI. Business Egypt aims to substantially increase sales revenues and investments among Egyptian micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises and, by so doing, create new job opportunities, especially for women and youth. The project will co-invest with an ecosystem of institutions—business service providers, business associations, supportive government institutions, and more—to offer new products and services enabling MSMEs to better meet market demand and increase their sales. Business Egypt’s proposed sectors are renewable energy, ICT, and 3 additional sectors TBD. The project will operate from offices in Cairo, Alexandria, and Minya/Assiut (TBD).

**2. POSITION DESCRIPTION**

The MSME Business Senior Advisor, based in Cairo in cooperation with MSME Business Advisors in both regional offices, will broker linkages with anchor firms and MSME suppliers and facilitate industry linkages services via BDS centers and accelerators, to increase in value-added services. The MSME Business Advisor will assist a DAI expert in conducting mapping of MSMEs and anchor firms in selected, assess gaps in specific value chains and recommend best practice and most effective linkage tools between the industry players. In addition, avail linkages and sign MOUs with Chambers of Industries at the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) to support industry development and value chain linkages. In collaboration with anchor firms and MSMEs, pilot a co-design concept with existing partners by choosing one or two initiatives to support. The project will capitalize on the network and connections in specific value chains to facilitate the synergies and partnerships with anchor firms and supplying MSMEs.

**3. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Draft RFP for required LTTA and short-term consultants to conduct rapid supply chain diagnostics for anchor firms, using DAI’s supply chain methodology
- Conduct reverse-pitch innovation challenge sessions with BDS centers and interested anchor firms in sourcing their material and services from Upper Egypt MSMEs
- Organize B2B, linkages and awareness workshops to Link MSMEs and anchor firms in buyer-driven value chains
- Facilitate the development of capacity-building plans for MSMEs, in collaboration with BDS centers, regional offices, and women-focused Entrepreneurial and BDS Center in Upper Egypt
- Sign MOUs with service providers to support MSMEs
- Open calls to invite MSMEs to bridge challenges faced by anchor firms and their suppliers, focusing on market growth opportunities
- Conduct visit tours to anchor firms' factories for start-ups and MSMEs
- Responsible for all written project deliverables related to Objective 2 (input into the workplan, routine project reports, special studies, etc.)
- Identify and supervise technical STTA as needed

**4. QUALIFICATIONS**
- Ten (10) years of experience out of which 5 years relevance to business development and value chains;
- Technical experience in supply/value chains (preferably ICT, Renewable Energy, Logistics);
- Must have a good network of industries’ anchor firms;
- Excellent report writing and good communication ability, fluency in English and Arabic, and effective cross-cultural interpersonal skills;
- Strong ability to resolve work related issues;
- Vast experience in relevant technical support, management, administrative, and capacity building.
