Job Summary:

The Electrical Procurement Engineer is responsible for managing and overseeing all electrical material procurement activities for construction projects. This includes identifying suppliers, evaluating technical and commercial offers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely delivery of materials that meet project specifications and budget. The role requires strong technical knowledge in electrical systems and materials, combined with expertise in procurement processes, vendor management, and cost optimization.

Job Description:

  • Review project specifications, electrical BOQs, and drawings to determine material requirements.
  • Prepare and issue requests for quotations (RFQs) to qualified suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Evaluate technical and commercial bids, ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards.
  • Negotiate prices, delivery schedules, and payment terms with suppliers to achieve best value for the company.
  • Prepare purchase orders (POs) and follow up on approval processes.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local and international suppliers for electrical materials and equipment.
  • Assess supplier performance in terms of quality, delivery, and reliability.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for material inspections, factory acceptance tests (FAT), and delivery documentation.
  • Collaborate with electrical design, site, and planning teams to ensure alignment between material specifications and project requirements.
  • Track procurement schedules and ensure timely material delivery to avoid project delays.
  • Provide regular procurement status reports to project management and update material logs.
  • Support the cost control team with price analysis and budget monitoring.
  • Ensure all procured items comply with company policies, quality standards, and project specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of suppliers, quotations, purchase orders, and approvals.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations during material handling and delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 2–8 years of experience in procurement of electrical materials within a construction or contracting company.
  • Proven experience handling materials such as cables, switchgear, lighting, power distribution systems, and low-current systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, specifications, and standards (IEC, NEC, etc.).
  • Proficient in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of vendor sourcing, cost analysis, and contract negotiation.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple procurement packages simultaneously.
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken).
