Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and analytically driven Economic Researcher to join our team full-time. The selected candidate will contribute to economic, financial, and policy research in support of DFA's projects with multilateral development banks (MDBs), international financial institutions (IFIs), and governmental partners.

The role involves conducting quantitative and qualitative economic analysis, contributing to technical reports and policy briefs, and supporting the preparation of investment appraisals, market assessments, and climate finance studies.

The Economic Researcher will work closely with the Managing Director, project leads, and associates across multiple assignments. The candidate shall also have proven experience in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) topics, particularly as they relate to the economy and finance sectors, including familiarity with sustainable finance frameworks, green investments, and policy integration of ESG principles.

Key Responsibilities


• Conduct economic, financial, and sectoral research related to sustainable finance, green growth, and industrial development.


• Support the preparation of analytical reports, policy papers, and presentationsfor donor-funded programs.


• Collect, organize, and analyze macroeconomic, financial, and environmental data

using Excel and other analytical tools.


• Contribute to economic modeling, benchmarking, and cost-benefit assessmentsfor investment and policy projects.


• Review and summarize economic policies, market studies, and regulatory frameworks relevant to DFA's advisory work.


• Assist in the design of project proposals and background papers for tenders with MDBs and IFIs.


• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on data visualization and knowledge dissemination.


• Maintain awareness of regional economic trends and sustainable finance developments.

Qualifications and Skills


• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Development Studies, or a related field.


• 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in economic or policy research, preferably with exposure to international development or consulting.


• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including proficiency in Excel and familiarity with statistical tools (e.g., Stata, R, or Python is a plus).


• Excellent English writing and communication skills; Arabic fluency is an asset.


• Ability to synthesize large volumes of data and translate findings into clear policy or investment insights.


• High attention to detail, strong time-management skills, and ability to work under pressure.


• Demonstrated in  interest in climate finance, sustainable investment, or green economy topics.


• Professional demeanor and ability to engage effectively with international and governmental partners
