- _**_OBJECTIVE:_**

To provide technical support to NCW and CAPMAS to undertake the National FGM survey, with focus on the social norms. This consultancy will also support the FGM evidence generation efforts in Egypt through the Secondary Analysis of FGM module in national survey(s).

**_ Methodology:_**

In line with national priorities, the implementation of the assignment will follow a participatory approach.

The exercise will contribute to inform future FGM programming and decision making by supporting the evidence generation around FGM, with focus on social norms.

**Exercise One: Technical Support for the National FGM Study (105 days)**

The specific objectives of the exercise are as follows:

- Participate in national steering committee meetings Manage the pre-testing of survey tools and field work of the main survey Develop/Update the survey methodology including the sampling design Manage the selection of enumerators
- Train the field researchers and supervisors and develop the training tools/manual
- Conduct cleaning, processing, and analysis of data
- Adapt data collection tools on tablets
- Ensure technical oversight for ensuring data quality checks
- Write the quality control report Develop presentation of the findings
- Write the technical reports: key findings report, summary report, main report
- Develop presentation on the study to be used by NCW in relevant meetings

**Exercise Two: Secondary analysis for the FGM National Survey EFHS (15 days)**
- Participate in technical meeting with UNICEF team and relevant national partners
- Undertake secondary analysis of the survey and FGM module in EFHS 2021 to provide evidence on key indicators related to FG.
- Submit a final report (in Arabic and English)

**Scope of work**

The FGM Evidence Generation exercise will be in consultation with the National FGM Committee and the Steering Committee of the Study. The National FGM Study will be guideded by UNICEF and UNFPA Global ACT Framework for Social Norms. The scope of work will include participation in national steering committee meetings, participation in technical meetings with NCW and CAPMAS, UNICEF Data Analytics Team. As well as participation in relevant tools development and testing meetings/workshops throughout the study implementation.
- Ethical considerations_

It is expected that the proposal will include a section on the expected ethical challenges and issues that the assessment will need to overcome, as well as a description of ethical safeguards for participants.

The consultant will also be responsible for the ethical protocol review, and the proposal should include a clause on how to deal with interviewing adolescent boys and girls (If applicable).

The proposal will need to spell out how the UNICEF Procedure for Ethical Standards in Research, Evaluation, Data Collection and Analysis as well as the UNICEF Procedures for Ethical Research Involving Children will be followed/met, rather than only mentioning that the assessment will abide by them.
