Role Overview

The
Settlement Manager
is responsible for overseeing all settlement activities between Paymob and partner banks, financial institutions, merchants, and payment networks. This role ensures timely, accurate, and compliant settlement operations while maintaining high standards of financial integrity and operational control.

The Settlement Manager will lead the settlement team, implement controls, resolve discrepancies, and collaborate closely with Finance, Operations, Risk, Product, and External Partners.

Key Responsibilities

1. Settlement Operations

  • Oversee daily settlement cycles for all payment channels (card payments, wallets, BNPL, QR, POS transactions, etc.).
  • Ensure accurate calculation of settlement amounts, merchant payouts, commissions, and fees.
  • Monitor settlement timelines to ensure funds are transferred to merchants as per agreed SLAs.
  • Reconcile internal systems with partner banks and payment networks.

2. Financial Reconciliation & Accuracy

  • Lead the reconciliation process between transaction systems and bank statements.
  • Ensure discrepancies are flagged, investigated, and resolved.
  • Review settlement reports before payout execution.
  • Maintain documentation and audit trails for all reconciliations.

3. Risk Management & Compliance

  • Implement financial controls to reduce settlement errors and financial risk.
  • Work closely with Risk & Compliance to ensure operations follow CBE regulations and fintech rules.
  • Support audit requests and ensure readiness for financial reviews.

4. Stakeholder Coordination

  • Serve as the main point of contact for banks, processors, payment networks, and internal teams.
  • Collaborate with Product & Tech teams to resolve system issues affecting settlement accuracy.
  • Communicate with merchants regarding settlement timelines or discrepancies when needed.

5. Reporting & Data Analysis

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly settlement reports.
  • Analyze settlement trends, delays, and error patterns to optimize processes.
  • Support Finance team with month-end closing activities.

6. Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the settlement operations team.
  • Set team KPIs, monitor performance, and improve efficiency through training and automation.
  • Ensure strong coverage and workflow continuity for daily operations.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in settlements, finance operations, banking, payment processing, or fintech.
  • Experience in digital payments, card schemes, wallets, or acquiring is a strong plus.
  • Previous team leadership experience preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of settlement cycles, financial reconciliation, and banking operations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and stakeholder management.
