Job Purpose:

Responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulations. This role involves preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, assisting in month-end and year-end closing processes, and supporting financial audits. The General Accountant plays a key role in providing timely and reliable financial information to support decision-making and ensure the financial health of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily accounting operations including journal entries, reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger activities.
  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in compliance with IFRS/GAAP and company policies.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis to support business decision-making.
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal controls, including audits and tax filings.
  • Monitor cash flow and support treasury operations as needed.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including commercial, operations, and procurement to ensure financial alignment.
  • Maintain and improve financial procedures and systems, including Oracle ERP and other financial tools.
  • Support internal and external audit requirements by providing documentation and detailed reporting.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the finance function.

Personal Qualities:

  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations, standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP), and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and manage complex financial data.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills for working across departments.
  • Proactive and organized, with excellent time management abilities.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as CPA, CMA, or equivalent is a plus.

Experience:

  • 5–8 years of experience in finance and accounting roles, preferably in a travel agency or airline industry.
  • Hands-on experience in working within a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency with financial software and ERP systems, especially Oracle.
  • Experience in preparing financial statements, managing reconciliations, and overseeing daily accounting operations
