OVERVIEW JOB

The Accounts Payable Accountant is responsible for managing the company's day-to-day accounts payable functions. This includes processing invoices, reconciling vendor statements, managing payment runs, ensuring compliance with internal controls, and supporting month-end close activities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in AP processes within a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process and record vendor and subcontractor invoices in accordance with internal approval workflows.
  • Verify accuracy of invoices, purchase orders, delivery notes, and contracts before posting.
  • Match invoices to supporting documents, ensuring proper approvals and compliance with company policies.
  • Allocate costs to the correct projects, departments, or BOQ items.
  • Maintain accurate vendor and subcontractor records including contract terms, bank details, and tax IDs.
  • Prepare regular payment batches (cheques, transfers, online banking) based on due dates and cash availability.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies or outstanding balances.
  • Follow up on advance payments, ensure proper documentation, and monitor for timely settlement.
  • Assist in tracking retention amounts, down payments, and contract-related deductions.
  • Ensure all entries comply with Egyptian accounting and tax regulations, especially VAT and withholding tax.
  • Support monthly closings by preparing journal entries, accruals, and AP reports.
  • Assist with annual audits and tax inspections by providing all required AP documentation.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of experience in accounts payable, preferably in the
    construction or project-based industries
    .
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and
    Egyptian tax laws
    (especially VAT and WHT).
  • Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or local ERP).
  • Excellent Excel skills and familiarity with reconciliation processes.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and time management.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
