About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Country Director to join our team at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

Job Summary

The Country Director will be responsible for leading our country program, working closely with government counterparts, and other stakeholders to reduce rural poverty and improve agricultural development.

Main Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic leadership to the country program, developing and implementing a country strategy that aligns with IFAD's overall goals and objectives.
  • Program Management: Manage and oversee the implementation of IFAD's country program, ensuring that activities are on track to meet their objectives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with government counterparts, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and coordination.
  • Policy Dialogue: Contribute to policy dialogue at the national level, providing technical advice and support to government officials and other stakeholders.
  • Capacity Building: Support capacity building of government counterparts and other stakeholders to improve their skills and knowledge in areas related to rural poverty reduction and agricultural development.
Requirements
  • Education: Advanced university degree in a relevant field such as rural development, agriculture, or development policy.
  • Experience: At least 8 years of experience in rural development, agriculture, or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in an international organization or government agency.
  • Skills: Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Language: Fluency in English, with a working knowledge of Arabic and French.
