**Project Overview and Role**:
Trade Reform and Development in Egypt (TRADE) is a USAID funded project whose objective is to increase Egypt’s international trade by increasing exports from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the activity’s “selected sectors”; Engineering Products, Food Processing, Home têxtiles, Ready Made Garments, Chemicals, Printing and Packaging, and Building Materials
The TRADE Activity will achieve the following three Results:
Enhanced Export Capacity of SMEs, in particular New and Expanding Export
- Ready Enterprises (NEEREs)[1] in the Selected Sectors.
Strengthened Public and Private Trade-Support Institutions (e.g., Trade Associations, Export Councils, etc.); and
Improved Trade and Investment Policy, Regulatory and Institutional Environment
[1] New and Expanding Export Ready Enterprises is a specific term for TRADE that refers to a sub-set of SMEs.
***Primary Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Activities**
The consultant will undertake the following tasks:
- Identify qualified business leads in the U.S. and Brazilian markets as needed in several sectors including, among other, Apparel, Home têxtile, Engineering, Packaging, and Chemical products.
- Organize virtual trade missions and virtual B2B meetings in different formats and markets.
- Prepare a list of buyers (with importer companies’ representatives, distributors, importers, wholesalers, service companies, joint venture companies, and dealers related to the chosen sectors), including their company profiles, to be invited virtually or physically to the different events. The different TSIs will provide selection criteria.
- Plan and organize at least 3-5 B2B meetings for each Egyptian company participating in each event.
- Assist in selecting companies that will participate in bilateral meetings on the sidelines of each event whenever there is a need.
- Handle related promotional activities and invitations to importers, agents, buyers, and distributors, as well as other target groups that fit the profiles of Egyptian participating companies.
- Perform any other related activities in preparation for the matchmaking events in both Virtual and in-person format, in addition to suggesting venues for the in-person B2B meetings. Track and collect key B2B linkages (e.g., number of meetings between Egyptian companies and potential buyers).
-Engage the ECs staffs actively in the implementation process to provide them with a hands-on learning experience. This involves guiding and training the staff in the following areas:
- Improving Information Management that will include enhancing data collection and categorization.
- Developing the council evaluation skills and filtration process to better acquire selection criteria for the companies.
- Enhancing trade fair competencies be supporting the council staff in acquiring proficiency in setting up representative stands at trade fairs.
- Expanding international connections with international buyers during B2B activities to facilitate future communication and networking.
- Acquire new skills and tools to help ECs organize virtual business missions in the future.
**Deliverables**:
- A comprehensive list of companies with the highest potential, jointly identified with the concerned export council or TSI, based on specific criteria to arrange targeted B2B matchmaking meetings for them.
- A comprehensive list of invited buyers with their company profiles is to be submitted around 3-4 weeks before the mission date.
- A brief report on the analysis of the participating companies’ eligibility to participate in the mission and recommendations for the program (Agenda) and venues to conduct the B2B meetings.
- An orientation workshop to the companies before the mission, offering them business and marketing advice and tips.
- A detailed report on the B2B meetings that took place (including the number of meetings conducted between the Egyptian companies and full contact details of potential buyers, both physically and virtually).
- A brief USAID consultancy report describing the purpose of the consultancy, progress achieved, observations, issues and/or problems encountered, and details of expected follow-on activities by USAID TRADE or its stakeholders.
**Expected Outcomes**:
- ** **Effective and efficient trade missions, both virtual and physical that leads to actual deals for ECs member companies.
- Improved ECs linkages with counterparts in USA and Brazil.
- Improved ECs capacity to organize/manage trade missions, both virtual and physical.
**Required Qualifications**:
- 10+ years of related experience in buyer linkages and B2B matchmaking.
- Deep understanding of the U.S. and Brazilian markets in general, including import, distribution channels and retail business.
- Previous experience in arranging and conducting trade missions, whether virtual or physical.
- The ability to perform the designed activities
