Director of Operations

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**

**General**
- Provides the leadership and direction for the CT Terminal operations and takes responsibility for effective management and safety of all operations staff.
- Develops and lead the execution of long terms strategies and actions of the CT terminal to address any future challenges.
- Achieve the Company’s and its customer’s expectations with regards to operational efficiency, productivity and reliability.
- To implement, direct and administer general policies established by DP World, develop the Business Unit annual and long term (business) plans, plan, develop and approve specific operational policies, programs, procedures and methods in line with general policies.
- Work closely with the COO to develop and implement a strategic plan to advance mission, vision and values of the CT Operations.
- Lead the development and execution of the CT improvement plans and ensure its delivery on time and meeting the set objectives and KPI’s.
- To set targets for Container volume, TEUs in a competitive market environment, review operating results, comparing with established objectives, and recommend appropriate innovative cost effective measures to enhance outcome.
- To ensure there is adequate resources - skilled manpower and equipment to sufficiently meet daily operations
- Take the Leadership role in the establishment of performance indicators for all CT operations department functions and monitor performance against operating goals.
- Responsible for setting and achieving the budget for the reporting functions.
- Ensure that the terminal adheres to DP World standards for container terminal operations.
- Manage employee performance issues including training, appraisals, discipline and grievances.
- Liaises with customs agents, trucking companies, customs, port authorities, etc. to ensure that their requirements are met.
- Responsible for the change management process of Continuous Improvement within the CT operations.
- Responsible for Complying with the Port Regulations in force as well as procedures and guidelines set by the port authorities and other authorities with responsibilities in the area Contribute to internal audit process by being part of the audit team providing independent reviews and evaluations.

**Operations Responsibilities and duties**:

- Manage the day-to-day operations of the reporting functions according to the agreed operating principles of the business & relationships with customers.
- Ensures all operational KPI’s are met within the framework of safe operation, operational excellence, cost efficiency and meeting stakeholders’ requirements.
- Ensures that yard strategy is developed and implemented aiming to achieve the set KPI’s and optimum utilization, cost effectiveness and productivity of our yard space, manpower and equipment.
- Plans, organizes and controls the CT operational process in order to obtain indicators in the commercial content settled in contracts, in compliance with policies and procedures for health and safety at work available within the company.
- Plans the activity of the CT Operations according to the needs and emergencies occurring during operational process, to ensure that the full set of quantitative and qualitative indicators and to meet customers’ needs in the shortest time and longer-term enhancing company commercial positions within the country.
- Overlook all the execution, planning and both vessel operation and landside operation.
- Responsibility that all managers and labour in the CT operation are trained in best operation practices with regards to advanced operations strategies and new technology.
- Measure and report on operational performance and develop plans to improve relevant key performance indicators
- Motivate, support and harness continuously the entire execution team towards the goals and objective of container terminal as echoed in the company’s vision
- Coordinate terminal planning and execution divisions to ensure effective ship working programs are set and maintained to ensure vessels meet sailing or berthing deadlines
- keep communication open and exchange of relevant information between our operations team through (inventory all communication tools and keep it available and planned in good condition, Toolbox talk for new or edit our S.O.P and receive staff view
- Optimize continuously the operation processes through care for correctness, updating and improvement of S.O.P.
- Maintain and enhance relationships and good will with departments, and external/internal customers for cooperation to achieve company goals (work as teamwork and customer satisfaction)
- Develop and implement effective strategies and actions to ensure the optimum deployment and utilization of the CT Staff both our direct and third-party staff.
- Create CIR for all container terminal accidents and follow up the corrective actions
- Contribute to preparing training course for operational staff and teach in this course.
