The
Planning Engineer
is responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules and progress for infrastructure works. This role ensures that all civil, mechanical, and electrical infrastructure activities — such as roads, utilities, drainage, and site development — are planned and executed efficiently in alignment with the project's timeline, budget, and quality standards. The position bridges the gap between design, construction, and management teams by providing accurate data and performance forecasts to support informed decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project in coordination with the project team.
  • Define project milestones, critical paths, and resource allocation plans.
  • Monitor and update project progress against baseline schedules, identifying variances and delays.
  • Prepare recovery and mitigation plans to address schedule deviations.
  • Coordinate with the project, technical office, and procurement teams to ensure timely availability of drawings, materials, and resources.
  • Prepare periodic progress reports (daily, weekly, monthly) for management and clients.
  • Analyze productivity and performance indicators to support decision-making.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide input on planning, scheduling, and forecasting issues.
  • Assist in preparing extension of time (EOT) claims and delay analysis reports when required.
  • Ensure that all planning and reporting activities comply with company procedures and project requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering,
  • 5–10 years of experience in planning and scheduling infrastructure projects,
  • Proven experience with Primavera P6, MS Project, and other project control tools.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and resource planning.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and reporting abilities.
