Job Description: Junior Accountant
Location: Smouha, Alexandria, Egypt
Department: Finance & Accounting
Reports To: Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time
Key Responsibilities
- Bookkeeping & Record Maintenance:
- Process and record daily financial transactions (accounts payable, accounts receivable, expenses) accurately in the accounting system.
- Maintain and reconcile subsidiary ledgers.
- Handle petty cash management and reconciliations.
- Assist with bank reconciliation statements on a monthly basis.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable Support:
- Assist with the preparation and processing of supplier invoices, payments, and employee expense reports.
- Help in issuing customer invoices and follow up on collections.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date vendor and customer files.
- Reporting & Compliance:
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Support the preparation of documents for external audits.
- Help ensure compliance with local Egyptian accounting standards and tax regulations (VAT, withholding tax, etc.).
- General Administrative Support:
- Prepare and file financial documents, vouchers, and records.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems.
- Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned by the Senior Accountant or Manager.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Experience:
- 1-3 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Technical Skills:
- Good understanding of basic accounting principles (Egyptian Accounting Standards is a plus).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Advanced Excel skills - Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP - are a significant advantage).
- Familiarity with any Egyptian accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Oracle, SAP, or local solutions) is a major plus.
- Personal Attributes:
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication skills in Arabic and English (both written and verbal).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial information.
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive work ethic.
