    For companies that outsource, this involves selecting, managing, and coordinating with third-party factories to ensure they adhere to quality, cost, and delivery standards.

3. Production Oversight and Efficiency

  • Process Supervision:
    Overseeing the entire manufacturing floor, including the cutting, sewing, and finishing departments, to ensure a smooth, efficient workflow.
  • Monitoring and Control:
    Tracking the progress of production against the plan (
    Work In Progress - WIP
    ) and taking immediate corrective action if there are delays or performance shortfalls.
  • Cost Management:
    Continuously looking for ways to reduce waste and optimize production processes (often using
    Lean Manufacturing
    principles) to control and minimize the manufacturing cost of the garment.

4. Quality Assurance (QA)

  • Setting Quality Standards:
    Defining and enforcing the company's quality standards for workmanship, fit, and appearance at all stages of production.
  • Inspections and Audits:
    Coordinating with the Quality Control (QC) team to conduct regular in-line inspections and final audits (checking Top of Production samples) to ensure the finished product meets all client specifications and internal benchmarks.
  • Problem Resolution:
    Investigating the root cause of quality defects and implementing permanent solutions.

5. Coordination and Communication

  • Cross-Functional Liaison:
    Serving as the key link between various internal departments, especially
    Design/Merchandising

  • Pre-Production Meetings (PPM):
    Organizing and leading meetings to finalize all technical and quality details before bulk production begins.

6. Team and People Management

  • Supervision and Motivation:
    Leading, guiding, and motivating the production workforce, including supervisors and line workers.
