Job Summary

The Quality Control Team Lead is responsible for supervising and guiding a team of QC engineers to ensure that all construction activities comply with project quality standards, specifications, and safety regulations. The role involves coordinating quality control processes, maintaining documentation, performing site inspections, and supporting the resolution of technical issues. The Team Lead works closely with the Project Manager and other stakeholders to maintain technical accuracy and drive continuous compliance across the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the team's review of contractor submittals for accuracy and compliance. Provide guidance on detailed reviews and endorse submissions before escalation to senior management when required.
  • Detect and report non-conforming or unsatisfactory work to the Contractor and follow up to ensure timely correction. Escalate unresolved issues to the Project Manager.
  • Review and provide recommendations on complex shop drawings, construction details, and layout plans, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
  • Ensure that the Contractor maintains updated marked-up drawings and technical records reflecting actual site conditions.
  • Monitor the submittal review process through a controlled daily log, addressing priority or high-complexity submissions directly.
  • Conduct regular inspections of key construction activities to confirm compliance with technical specifications and quality standards.
  • Evaluate the Contractor's proposed construction methods and participate in technical discussions to verify feasibility and adherence to design intent.
  • Lead multi-discipline inspections, prepare punch lists for incomplete or defective works, and track corrective actions until completion.
  • Assist the Project Manager with technical evaluations of Contractor claims and variations, providing written assessments as needed.
  • Review and recommend approval for material or equipment substitution requests, ensuring they meet project performance and specification requirements.
  • Inspect delivered materials and equipment to confirm compliance with approved documents and project standards.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of all technical documentation including manuals, test certificates, and O&M records.
  • Prepare quality control inspection plans and site procedures for the Project Manager's approval and ensure proper adherence across the project.
  • Review method statements and testing/commissioning procedures, participating in critical testing activities to verify compliance.
  • Lead weekly coordination meetings with the Contractor to discuss outstanding issues, upcoming activities, and responsibilities.
  • Review final as-built drawings and coordinate with the Contractor to ensure timely and accurate submissions.
  • Provide written responses to technical queries regarding design intent, with copies to the Project Manager, and issue instructions to ensure compliance with contract documents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field.
  • Minimum of
    8–10 years
    of experience in Quality Control, preferably in large-scale construction projects.
  • Strong experience identifying control points and managing quality risks.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive, hands-on approach to technical challenges.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with quality management systems and documentation workflows.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills for effective collaboration with contractors, consultants, and project teams.
