**TITLE: Climate changes and adaptation Senior Officer (CCASO)**

- _either _frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.**ROLE PURPOSE**:
Save the Children implements the USAID funded Literate Village program. The Program Goal is” All women and primary school aged children in targeted villages possess the necessary literacy skills for continuous learning and self-improvement”. Results: Quality of reading instruction for rural primary school aged children increased; and rural mothers' ability to contribute to their children's primary education increased. **The Climate changes and adaptation Senior officer **is responsible for mainstreaming and leading of the climate change concept and knowledge among LV team and through all project interventions. He/she will design and develop the guidelines of implementation for all the interventions related to the climate changes within all component, follow up the implementations and provides technical support to LV team field staff to support climate adaptation and integration. The role will provide technical assistance to ongoing actions and activities under the Literate Village climate interventions, as well as support project implementation and monitoring and evaluation in this regard. The CCA Senior officer will maintain close collaboration with LV project team in different component and building the capacity of field staff including SCI, PNGOs and CDAs staff.

The LV CCASO works closely with the Cairo-based technical Specialists. He/she expected to spend at minimum 60 % of his/her time in the field.

**KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY**:
**Technical engagement**
- Provides technical support to the program interventions in the area of Climate changes and adaption and works closely with all field staff in different components to ensure achieving planned results and sustainability of program interventions.
- Builds the capacity of project staff of the implementing local partners (NGOs and CDAs) and provides coaching and mentoring in the area of Climate changes and adaptation
- S/he will closely manage and collaborate with SCI Climate Resilience advisor and get sure that the project is in line with SCI strategy and directions in this regard and sharing learning and lessons learned.
- Responsible for developing TOR for external consult to support the project in the area of climate changes and adaptation as needed and supervise the work progress of deliverables and quality of work provided for payment release.
- Conducts regular follow-up and monitoring to ensure proper and efficient implementation and mainstreaming of climate changes concepts and adaptation actions in relevant project activities. That including conduction of regular field visits to monitor Climate awareness training and activities on the community level.
- Key Support in the preparation of project implementation plans and assists the NGO and CDA implementing partners in the planning process regarding the Climate change interventions.
- Identifies critical issues in the implementation of the Climate awareness and adaptation activities on the ground and together with the staff of the NGO and CDA implementing partners, takes the necessary actions to address challenges in the field
- Ensures technical approaches of Climate awareness and adaptation are adopted through the different activities of project components
- Highly engages with the Governorate officers to ensure that: climate changes interventions in the targeted communities are effective and well-integrated with the community school, adult literacy and community mobilization interventions and cross cutting activities.
- Works with the Governorate Manager and the M&E team to ensure that results are effectively communicated, and lessons learned are incorporated into program database.
- Coordinate and actively participates in the facilitation of workshops and trainings related to Climate changes and tracking the outcomes and results on the ground
- Responsible for documenting and reporting on the climate changes implemented activities including outcomes, beneficiaries’ feedback and adaptation efforts from different group of targets.
- Provide the CCA training to the project and stakeholders’ cadres responsible for rolling out the contents on a large scale.
