COVID Notification:The Clinical Assistant reports to the MSSI Program Manager or a designated Manager or Site Lead as directed by the Program Manager. The Clinical Assistant will deliver services in one of three settings: (1) Field Health Unit, (2) Small medical/trauma hospitals, (3) Large medical/trauma hospital.

The Clinical Assistant is responsible for routine administrative and clinical support to help keep MSSI-Iraq health care sites running efficiently. The Clinical Assistant will often be the very first person with whom a patient communicates upon entering the medical facility. Customer service skills are paramount for this position.

All services shall be provided in accordance with established standards, principles and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty organizations, and the high-quality standard for which Acuity is recognized.

This position is located in Baghdad, Iraq.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE:

- High school diploma or country of origin equivalent.
- Prior training or employment in a medical facility in an administrative capacity preferred.
- Prior military service as a Patient Administration professional preferred.
- Familiarization with medical terminology preferred.
- Must have superb communication, computer/typing and organizational skills.
- Must have recent experience in the position that is being applied for, for at least 6 months out of the past year
- Participate in training, (including HIPAA training)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

- The Clinical Assistant performs routine logístical support tasks such as receiving material and routing it to a responsible party.
- The Clinical Assistant must be familiar with the different beneficiary categories in theater and be able to communicate eligibility requirements and billing procedures (when necessary) to the healthcare facility staff.
- The Clinical Assistant will be able to articulate the scope of service available at the facility in order to better accommodate patients’ requests for services.
- The Clinical Assistant will often function as the liaison between the patient, patients’ employer, and the provider. Interpersonal skills and an in-depth knowledge of the installation on which the Clinical Assistant will serve are integral to success.
- The Clinical Assistant will be responsible for guiding the patient through his or her entire encounter in the facility (from reception to discharge) to include facilitating follow-up visits for recurring care, upon the providers’ requests.
- The Clinical Assistant will play an integral role in mass casualty exercises and medical evacuation Establish and maintain processes to receive patients that present for medical care; assist providers and support staff in developing means through which the facility can improve patient input.
- Maintain patient waiting areas.
- Register new patients into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), update demographic information as necessary.
- Prepare and consolidate medical documents and files; scan loose filing into the EMR as necessary.
- Maintain medical evacuation data and a system through which the facility is able to track the patients’ location and disposition after evacuation.
- Processing patient visit data for inclusion into recurring reports.
- Establish procedures through which the facility will maximize patient privacy in accordance with HIPAA and local standards.
- All MSSI-Iraq personnel will document work performed, up-date patient files, as required and follow up to close out action items.
- Assists with the managing of day-to-day activities and prioritizing tasks.
- Complies with all applicable Acuity International standards and guidelines.
- Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve quality and outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task efforts, and new policy requirements.
- Maintains the highest regard for patient dignity and observe the precepts of the American Hospital Associations Bill of Rights for patients.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

- Must have a current Passport.
- Requires a favorably adjudicated Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) investigation conducted by the Department of State, Bureau of Diplomatic Security.
- Must sign a Acuity International Assignment Agreement (IAA) and is bound to the terms and conditions of the IAA.
- Work hours are based on 72 hr. work week 12 hours a day.
