**Accountant - Egypt**
**Purpose of the job**

The accountant position is responsible for maintaining the financial records by accurately recording the day-to-day financial transactions of the organization. The creation of financial transactions includes posting information to accounting journals or accounting software from sources/documents like invoices to customers, cash receipts, and supplier invoices. The position will also reconcile accounts to ensure their accuracy.
**Essential Functions and Responsibilities**
- Update, maintain and ensure accuracy of accounting records and systems.
- Assist in developing and maintaining proper internal and audit controls and sound business practices to ensure compliance with all external laws/regulations and internal policies.
- Post financial transactions and record-related activities for effective day-to-day, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting and accounting functions. The incumbent works to ensure that all financial processes for Coptic Orphans Egypt are in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), pertinent laws and regulations, organizational policies, and in accordance with granting agencies' agreements with whom the organization contracts.
- Oversee payment processing; carefully examine invoices, payables, and corporate credit card charges. Analyze and ensure the accuracy of cash receipts, A/R, A/P and other financial data; process payroll and provide assistance with financial management.
- Reconcile all general ledger and bank accounts in a timely and accurate fashion; prepare journal entries and ensure timely processing of month-end and year-end closing.
- Develop, prepare, and submit program and operational financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, annual and ad-hoc basis, including consolidated balance sheets, income/expense reports, year-to-year and budget comparison after analysis, providing trend information
- Assist in developing, maintaining and updating chart of accounts and detailed structure of the financial system setup; assist in and advise on updating and maintaining the Accounting Procedure Manual documenting existing processes and develop new procedures specific to Finance Department functions and interdepartmental activities impacting finances. Work with Finance Team to develop new processes and reporting to address continued growth and new developments.
- Assist with the annual budget development process; monitor and analyze income and expense to assess meeting targets. Prepare schedules, reports, documents, and files needed for external audit and other stakeholders.
- Perform other related responsibilities and tasks as assigned.

None.
**Knowledge and Skills**
- Bachelor's degree in accounting.
- 2 years of related professional experience.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft office, specially excel.
- Very good command of English.
**Fiscal Responsibilities (budgeting responsibilities, approval privileges on purchase orders and check requests, reporting and auditing functions)**

None.
**Extent of Public Contact (within and outside the organization)**
Regular interactions with Coptic Orphans' staff members.
**Physical Demands (walking, lifting, carrying, etc.)**

Typical office environment limited to walking, sitting, typing, using telephone and office equipment, and occasional lifting of boxes and luggage.

**Working Conditions and Environment (i.e., necessary travel, unusual work hours, etc.)**
May be required to work extra/off-duty hours.
