Reports to: Senior Director, Payroll


Purpose: The jobholder manages various activities for payroll to maintain major operations in accordance with the strategic goals and objectives of The American University in Cairo (AUC) and the Office of the Financial Accounting. The jobholder assures that all payroll payments are accurate and paid on time in light of Egyptian and US regulations


Responsibilities:


Responsible for processing teaching assistantsâ monthly compensations and paymentsResponsible for giving out fellowship paymentsProcessing monthly payroll actions received from management and operations teamsPaying to EMBA instructors received from school of businessResponsible for revising, settling and reissuing rejected monthly salaries in collaboration with treasury officeRevising and processing CLT instructorsâ paymentsRevising and processing CASA monthly paymentsResponsible for processing research assistantsâ compensations in collaboration with graduate admission officePaying Kamal Adham Center paymentsCoordinate with Office of Human Resources to calculate and process compensation for leaversIssuing group life insurance payments in collaboration with HR and Provost OfficeCoordinate with Legal Office and HR office to issue salaries breakdown lettersPrepare monthly alimony actions received from AUC Legal departmentProactively implement ways to improve the financial process through analyzing monthly financial transactions and identify key variances in order to flag incorrect transactions to avoid it in next monthMaintain and enhance business processes and partnership with University deansâ officesReview and respond to HR queries regarding various actionsProcess reconciliation for various G/L accounts through preparing journal entries, and accounting transactions that need corrections on the SAP for related to processed paymentsExtract different reports from the system to provide all required detailsPerform other related duties as requested from direct supervisor


Requirements:

Minimum Education Requirements:

â Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field

â Master's degree is preferable


Experience

â Minimum of 8 yearsâ experience in payroll accounting including a minimum of two years of managerial responsibilities

â Minimum of 5 years of income tax reconciliation


Skills:

Strong accounting skillsStrong computer skillsEffective communication skillsExcellent knowledge of Microsoft applicationsVery Good command of English languageExperience of SAP Payroll systemKnowledge of SAP Finance moduleKnowledge of income tax calculations and tax lawAbility to meet deadlines and work under pressure
