The Role
**Overview**:
The document controller will be responsible for meticulously reviewing a variety of documents, including functional and technical requirements, system specifications, and reports, to guarantee clarity, consistency, and adherence to project standards. This role requires a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of technical writing principles. The reviewer will need to be able to work collaboratively and communicate effectively to help maintain the integrity of the project's documentation and ensure it meets the highest standards of quality.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Reviewing technical documents: Scrutinize functional and technical requirements, system specifications, integration designs, test plans, and reports, ensuring they are free of errors, well-structured, and easy to understand.
- Ensuring editorial quality: Proofread and edit documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style, maintaining consistency in terminology, formatting, and tone throughout all deliverables.
- Providing constructive feedback: Offer clear, actionable feedback to technical writers and other contributors to improve the clarity and overall quality of documentation.
- Ensuring compliance: Check that all documents adhere to the project's established guidelines and standards.
- Maintaining documentation: Help organize and maintain a central repository for all documentation, ensuring it is easily accessible and up-to-date.
- Identifying gaps: Analyze documents to find gaps in information, inconsistencies, or contradictions and recommend actions to address them.
- Printing and submitting documents and receiving client responses.
**Personal Skills**
**Required Skills and Qualifications**:
- Language proficiency: Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide constructive criticism effectively.
- Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with various stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented: High level of accuracy and attention to detail is absolutely critical.
- Adaptability: Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing priorities within a fast-paced project environment.
**Technical Skills**
- Experience: Proven experience as a technical writer or technical editor, with a strong portfolio of work demonstrating meticulous attention to detail.
- Technical knowledge (preferred): Understanding of technical concepts related to smart city technologies, such as Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) systems, IoT platforms, and data analytics.
- Editing skills: Exceptional proofreading and copy editing skills, with the ability to identify errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style.
- Formatting expertise: Strong familiarity with document formatting and style guides.
