Bureau Chief, Egypt, Sudan and North Africa

Reuters is looking for an experienced and resourceful bureau chief with the energy, initiative and leadership skills to guide our coverage of Egypt, Sudan and nations across North Africa.

The role requires a team player ready to work with colleagues within the region and beyond, and also requires a confident manager who can guide reporters often facing challenging and hostile environments. Working with the Reuters security team will be an essential part of the job to ensure staff stay safe while delivering a top-notch file. Command of Arabic will be vital for this position.

**About the Role**

As our **Egypt, Sudan and North Africa Bureau Chief,** you will:

- Demonstrate excellent news judgement with the ability to rigorously prioritise
- Be able to generate story ideas and show the determination to deliver them
- Have a track record in building sources across the file
- Be a confident manager who is able lead a team and work closely with editors
- Understand the importance of multimedia coverage and cooperation
- Have a command of Arabic, while knowledge of French would be an advantage

**About You**

To be our **Egypt, Sudan and North Africa Bureau Chief,** you will likely:

- Have knowledge of the Egypt and North Africa or the broader Middle East
- Have experience working in or around hostile environments
- Have at least seven years experience as a journalist, including working for international outlets involved in real-time news
