***Primary Duties and Responsibilities**:
The Export Advisor/ Senior Advisor - Processed Food Sector will participate in the identification, planning, and execution of TRADE’s key interventions that develop the export capacities of New and Expanding Export-Ready Enterprises (NEEREs) in the processed food sector. This includes helping NEEREs adopt trade-oriented business models to compete successfully in international markets.
**TASKS**
- Coordinating and contributing to the planning, implementing, and monitoring of TRADE interventions for the development of export capacities of SMEs in the food sector.
- Helping in NEERE selection, NEERE action plan development, NEERE action plan implementation support, and linking NEEREs to export facilitators.
- Helping Egyptian SMEs effectively reach out to targeted international buyers and retailers, assisting with follow-up negotiations and deals, and working to confirm export orders.
- Directly connecting supported SMEs with buyers through in-person and virtual buyer missions and other business-to-business (B2B) interactions.
- Developing implementation plans and partnership agreements with relevant stakeholders and counterparts, including stakeholders and counterparts that have a large role in improving export earnings, such as export councils, the federation of Egyptian industries, banks, professional, business, and trade associations.
- Identifying and pursuing Private Sector Engagement (PSE) opportunities, including leveraging private sector material and financial resources for activities, and mobilizing private sector investment to improve the export competitiveness of the SMEs.
- Conducting any other tasks as may be delegated by the supervisor.
**Qualifications**:
- B.A. or B.Sc. in related business development field with 10+ years of related experience.
- Prior experience in the SMEs sector of Egypt and robust understanding of the Egyptian economy and the role SMEs play in Egypt.
- Demonstrate capabilities in dealing with the Egyptian exporting and industrial sectors.
- Experience brokering partnerships with the private sector and establish broad connections with commercial associations/organizations.
- Prior experience in development projects is preferred.
- Experience working in underserved areas throughout Egypt is preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff and partners in a cross-cultural environment.
- Proficiency in both oral and written communication in both English and Arabic.
**Project Overview and Role**:
Palladium was awarded the USAID/Trade Reform and Development in Egypt (TRADE) activity contract, which has a 5-year timeframe and a ceiling of $36.3 million. The Project will be active throughout Egypt. The goal of the TRADE Activity is to increase Egypt’s international trade by increasing exports from SMEs, and in particular New and Expanding Export-Ready Enterprises (NEEREs). This will be achieved by addressing the constraints that impede the competitiveness of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).
In order to achieve the activity’s goal (increasing exports in selected sectors), Palladium must attain the following three Results:
1) Enhanced export capacity of SMEs, in particular New and Expanding Export-Ready Enterprises (NEEREs)in selected sectors,
2) Strengthened public and private trade-support institutions (e.g., trade
associations, export councils, etc.),
3) Improved trade and investment policy, regulatory and institutional environments.
