- Plan workload and resources; monitor inbound trains for locomotives requiring maintenance or repairs and coordinate with Transportation to ensure equipment is repaired in proper sequence and order. In a terminal, deploy crews to inspect equipment and run the required quality tests
- Manage equipment repairs in the shop. working with ENR and Engineering and direct reports to efficiently restore service to the fleet Monitor and direct inspection and repair of equipment.
- Drive safety compliance and improve safety results through regular efficiency testing and safety walkabouts; provides positive and constructive feedback and coaching.
- Lead the on-boarding and training activities of new employees. Day to day Management of assigned staff and ensure repair work is performed within the purview of collective bargaining agreements.
- Drive equipment availability & reliability improvement
- Manage day to day issues, along with hourly performance issues including conducting investigations, recommending appropriate discipline to correct performance issues, and responding to grievances.
- Manages budget and workforce productivity within Department and Wabtec policies. Operate in conjunction with appropriate collective bargaining agreements.
- Formalize work activity processes and coordinate changes and enhancements with staff and other Department peers.
- Develop and implement action plans and goals for Supervisory staff and monitor development to ensure continued improvement. All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Create local level S&OP and ensure a compliance and implementation
- Own the craft labor technical assessment, evaluation, ensure that the required skill set is covered to perform the job
- Implement Wabtec best in class practice, I.e., Lotto process, Gold standard, Lean facility
- Knowledge of training techniques and ability to suggest enhancements to existing training programs
- Management of employees (motivating, developing and coaching individuals) Skill in aligning strategic and operational needs with training programs
- Working Conditions Maybe required to work on varying shifts to cover operations that run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Work is primarily indoors, but rarely requiring field support, which can be in varying types of weather. Work shifts may vary and will include weekdays, weekends and statutory holidays.

- Subject matter expertise in maintenance and repair of heavy equipment.

- Knowledge of training techniques and ability to suggest enhancements to existing training programs

- Minimum Requirements
- BSc. In mechanical engineering, Minimum 15 years experience in railroad Mechanical shop craft or comparable position.
