Principal Engineering Manager

Our mission in Microsoft Shopping and E-Commerce team is to delight the customers and retailers by delivering world class shopping experiences on various canvasses like Bing, Windows, MSN, Edge, and Apps. We are a fast-growing team with bold goals to grow 20x in terms of revenue and users in a short span of time.
- This is a unique opportunity for an experienced software engineering manager with a strong technical background in service development and/or machine learning, as well as a proven track record of team building. We seek a strong leader to play a critical role in the success of Microsoft Shopping and our broader marketplace ambitions. Responsibilities range from leading technical due diligence of different approaches, architectural brainstorming with engineering managers and other architects, evangelizing and garnering support from potential strategic customers/partners, prioritizing the evolution of the architecture to support strategic opportunities, devising ways to leverage machine learning, and working with engineers, PMs, and data scientists to select high-level service abstractions to evolve our infrastructure and services.

We are looking for a customer-focused engineering manager motivated to build great consumer focused products and partner with other product leaders.

- Anticipate, identify, assess, track and mitigate project risks and issues in a fast-paced start up like environment
- Work with the business owners to help frame broad questions into concrete, relevant data-driven solutions and metrics

**Qualifications**:

- BS or MS degree in Computer Science or Engineering
- 12+ years of experience in software development
- 5+ years of leading and/or managing a team
- Experience in developing team strategy and leading diverse teams to success
- Strong (current) technical skills in software development or machine learning
- Great communication and teamwork skills
- Able to work in a high-performance team
- Familiarity with shopping/ecommerce is a plus but not required, as is broader experience in distributed computing, containers and microservice architectures, and familiarity with Azure or other cloud services
