**Project Overview and Role**:
The USAID’s Trade Reform and Development in Egypt (TRADE) Activity aims to boost Egypt’s international trade by increasing exports from Egyptian Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and New and Expanding Export-Ready Enterprises (NEEREs1). To achieve the Activity’s goal, the project seeks to attain the following three Results:

- Enhanced Export Capacity of SMEs, NEEREs, in selected sectors
- Strengthened public and private Trade-Support Institutions (e.g., Trade Associations, Export Councils, etc.)
- Improved trade and investment policy, regulatory, and institutional environment

To achieve those targets, TRADE is working to help NEEREs in the sectors of Food processing, Engineering, Ready-made garments (RMG), Home têxtiles, Chemicals, Building Materials, Printing and Packaging.

***Primary Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Purpose**:
The main purpose of this assignment is to assist the MEL team to move from an MS Excel based system to a SQL based system. Considering the increasing amount of project data and to avoid challenges related to transcription errors and maintain data integrity, the SQL system will enable the MEL team to have an automated system to process and analyse data in order to measure progress towards targets in a more efficient manner. Moreover, and due to SQL’s comparative advantage in managing data in a format that can be accessed by multiple simultaneous users, the contracted specialist will build a database structure on SQL to enable the project to migrate its data from MS Excel tabulations to the SQL database, including the incorporation of code to automate data processing.

Review of the current project database and the project’s information needs:

- Kick-off meeting with the MEL team to go through the current structure and determine the way forward.
- Review current MEL tabulations and indicators’ structure.
- Develop a preliminary report on the approach and database structure

Delivery of database and presentation summarizing the database structure:

- Conduct a detailed presentation of the database’s workflow, including the methodology used for data migration, query design, and data processing automation code.
- Present possible database maintenance needs and mitigation measures.

- Modifications to the database by consultant based on feedback.
- 2 Days
- Data migration from current Excel tabulations to the new SQL databases (by consultant), including the implementation of code to automate data processing.
- 4 Days
- Develop all needed queries to facilitate future data processing and develop custom report templates.
- 2 Days
- Modifications to database structure after a one-month trial period.
- 4 Days

**Deliverables**:

- Submit preliminary report on approach and database structure
- Submit draft database with sample data and deliver presentation
- Submit final database
- Migrate data from Excel tabulations to the final database

**Required Qualifications**:

- Experience in building and maintaining large-scale (more than 10,000 records) SQL databases.
- Experience in developing and implementing code to process data through SQL.
