Job Summary:
The Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO) is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the supply chain operations across the organization's three manufacturing plants. This includes strategic direction and leadership for export shipping, warehousing, local and foreign procurement, material requirement planning (MRP), and production planning. The CSCO will ensure the seamless integration of all supply chain processes to support operational excellence, timely product delivery, cost management, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Supply Chain Strategy & Leadership:
Lead the design, development, and implementation of end-to-end supply chain strategies to optimize cost, quality, and delivery performance for the company's glass manufacturing operations.
- Provide visionary leadership and guidance to a cross-functional team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Collaborate with senior management to ensure the supply chain strategy aligns with overall business objectives, including international expansion and customer satisfaction.
Export Shipping & Logistics:
Oversee and manage all aspects of export shipping and logistics, ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost-effective delivery of products to international markets.
- Develop relationships with international shipping partners, freight forwarders, and customs authorities to maintain timely and compliant delivery schedules.
Continuously evaluate and improve global logistics processes to minimize lead times and shipping costs.
Warehouse Management & Distribution:
Oversee warehousing operations, ensuring the efficient storage and movement of raw materials and finished goods across all plants.
- Implement and maintain best practices for warehouse management, ensuring optimal inventory levels and minimizing waste or loss.
Ensure warehouse safety, regulatory compliance, and best practices in inventory management.
Local and Foreign Procurement:
Develop and execute strategies for local and foreign procurement, ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials for production.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, pricing, and service agreements to drive value and performance.
Evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality, and on-time delivery to continuously improve procurement efficiency.
Material Requirement Planning (MRP):
Lead and manage the material requirement planning process, ensuring the timely and accurate forecasting of raw materials and production inputs.
- Oversee the preparation and maintenance of inventory management systems, ensuring materials are available without overstocking.
Work closely with production and procurement teams to align material availability with production schedules.
Production Planning:
Oversee the production planning process to ensure that manufacturing schedules are met without delays and disruptions.
- Coordinate with manufacturing teams to create production plans that optimize plant utilization, resources, and throughput while minimizing costs.
Adjust plans as necessary to address issues such as machine breakdowns, material shortages, or unexpected demand changes.
Team Management & Development:
Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of supply chain employees.
Monitor and assess employee performance, providing feedback and growth opportunities.
Continuous Improvement & Cost Optimization:
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in the supply chain processes, focusing on reducing lead times, minimizing costs, and enhancing service levels.
- Use advanced data analysis tools to identify inefficiencies and implement corrective actions across all supply chain functions.
Lead cost reduction initiatives without compromising on product quality or delivery timelines.
Risk Management & Compliance:
Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate disruptions across the supply chain.
- Ensure that all supply chain activities comply with local and international regulations, standards, and safety guidelines.
Stay abreast of changes in regulatory requirements for both local and foreign markets.
Reporting & Performance Metrics:
Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the supply chain, providing regular updates and insights to senior management.
- Use data analytics and performance reporting tools to monitor supply chain effectiveness and recommend improvements.
- Prepare and present detailed supply chain reports, including performance against targets, cost savings, and improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. MBA or equivalent advanced degree is a must.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 20+ years of progressive experience in supply chain management, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in glass or similar industries, with knowledge of production, logistics, procurement, and warehouse management.
- Proven experience managing multi-site operations with direct responsibility for multiple supply chain functions.
- Skills:
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
- Expertise in material requirement planning (MRP), production planning, inventory management, and logistics.
- Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management and cost optimization.
- Proficiency in supply chain management software and ERP systems.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Certifications (preferred): APICS CPIM or CSCP, Six Sigma, or similar certifications.
Work Environment:
- The role will involve frequent travel between the company's manufacturing plants.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
