Job Purpose

The Microsoft Infrastructure and VDI Technical Engineer is responsible for implementing, administering, and supporting Microsoft-based infrastructure services, virtualization platforms, and virtual desktop environments. The role ensures stable, secure, and efficient operation of on-premises and hybrid systems while participating in projects, troubleshooting, and user support.

Key Responsibilities

Microsoft Infrastructure Management


• Manage Active Directory (user/group management, OU design, GPOs, replication).


• Administer DNS/DHCP services.


• Configure and manage file and print services.


• Perform regular system patching, updates, and maintenance tasks.

Microsoft Administration


• Support administration of Exchange.


• Implement and test backup & recovery solutions.

Virtualization & VDI Operations


• Manage and support virtualized infrastructure on VMware vSphere/ESXi.


• Participate in deployment and administration of VDI platforms such as Citrix Virtual Apps (training provided if needed).


• Support profile and user data management through FSLogix or similar tools.


• Assist with image management and deployment using MDT/WDS/SCCM or Intune.

Networking & Security


• Troubleshoot connectivity using core network fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing basics).


• Support remote access configurations including RDP, VPN, and SSL certificates.


• Understand firewall and load balancing concepts for secure access and traffic distribution.

Automation, Monitoring & Documentation


• Use PowerShell scripts for administrative and maintenance tasks.


• Utilize Event Viewer and Performance Monitor for system health checks and issue diagnosis.


• Maintain up-to-date documentation for procedures, configurations, and network diagrams.

Qualifications

Education:


• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Experience:


• 3–6 years of hands-on experience in Windows Server administration, virtualization, and IT infrastructure support.

Technical Skills (Required):


• Windows Server administration.


• Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPOs


• VMware or Hyper-V virtualization


• Backup & recovery solutions


• PowerShell scripting (basic cmdlets)


• Monitoring and troubleshooting.


• Strong documentation skills.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):


• Exchange / Teams / SharePoint administration.


• VMware Horizon or Citrix Virtual Apps experience


• FSLogix or similar profile management tools


• MDT/WDS/SCCM or Intune for image deployment


• Basic firewall and load-balancing understanding

Certifications (Preferred but Not Mandatory):


• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate / AVD Specialty


• VMware VCTA-DTM / Citrix CCA-V


• CompTIA Network+ or Server+


• ITIL Foundation or equivalent certification

Soft Skills:


• Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.


• Good communication and teamwork skills.


• High attention to detail and structured documentation.


• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
