Job Purpose:

Ensure projects stay within budget by developing cost control systems, monitoring expenses, and implementing cost-saving strategies. Provide financial guidance, conduct risk assessments, coordinate with procurement, and prepare detailed cost reports. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive project success and document lessons learned for continuous improvement.

Main Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain project cost control systems, including cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Monitor and analyze project expenses, identifying areas of cost overrun and developing corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives and strategies.
  • Provide cost guidance and support to project managers and engineers.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans to minimize cost risks.
  • Develop and maintain project cash flow forecasts.
  • Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure that purchases are made in accordance with project budgets.
  • Develop and maintain project cost reports, including earned value management (EVM) reports.
  • Identify and document lessons learned and implement process improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project management, engineering, and procurement.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in cost engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in project cost control, including cost estimating, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Proficient in cost control software, such as Oracle Primavera, Microsoft Project, or similar.
  • Professional certification in cost engineering or a related field (e.g., AACE, PE) is an asset.
  • Experience in the oil and gas, construction, or infrastructure industries.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
