Job Summary:

The Construction Manager (Infrastructure) is responsible for leading and managing all on-site construction activities during the infrastructure phase of the project, ensuring timely delivery, quality compliance, cost control, and adherence to safety standards. The role oversees the execution of civil and infrastructure works including earthworks, roads, utilities, drainage, water networks, sewage networks, electrical/telecom ducting, and other site development components. The Construction Manager coordinates between engineering, planning, procurement, subcontractors, consultants, and the client to ensure seamless project execution and resolve any technical or operational issues.

Job Description:

1. Project Planning & Mobilization

2. Review project specifications, IFC drawings, and scope of work for infrastructure packages.

3. Participate in project mobilization planning: resources, manpower, equipment, and site logistics.
4. Prepare detailed execution plans and method statements for all infrastructure activities.

5. Coordinate with planning teams to develop the baseline schedule and ensure activity sequencing.

6. Site Construction Management

7. Lead day-to-day execution of infrastructure works: Earthworks, grading & compaction, Roads & pavements, Stormwater drainage, sewerage systems, water networks, Electrical, telecom & mechanical utilities, Manholes, chambers, duct banks, trenches

8. Ensure all work is delivered per approved drawings, technical standards, and project specifications.
9. Monitor progress on site and take corrective actions to avoid delays or rework.

10. Oversee subcontractor performance, productivity, and compliance with scope.

11. Technical Coordination

12. Coordinate with engineering teams for technical queries (RFIs), design clarifications, and material approvals.

13. Ensure compliance with relevant codes (local and international) and authority requirements.

14. Review shop drawings and ensure constructability and alignment with site conditions.

15. Quality Assurance & Control

16. Ensure adherence to quality standards and approved Inspection & Test Plans (ITP).

17. Conduct regular inspections and close NCRs, observations, and quality issues.

18. Work closely with QA/QC teams to maintain proper documentation and approvals.

19. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Compliance

20. Enforce strict compliance with safety protocols, site rules, and HSE plans.

21. Conduct toolbox talks, safety walks, and ensure risk assessments are in place.

22. Address and rectify unsafe practices or conditions immediately.

23. Cost & Resource Management

24. Monitor material usage to avoid wastage and ensure cost-efficient operations.

25. Verify quantities for progress payments and subcontractor invoices.

26. Support procurement by identifying material requirements in advance.

27. Stakeholder & Communication Management

28. Lead coordination meetings with subcontractors, consultants, and internal teams.

29. Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.

30. Communicate project status, challenges, and mitigation plans to management.

31. Problem Solving & Decision-Making

32. Proactively identify risks, clashes, and design issues and propose solutions.

33. Manage unforeseen site conditions and enforce corrective measures efficiently.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• PMP, PMI-SP, or similar certifications are an advantage.
• 10–15 years of experience in construction, with strong exposure to infrastructure works.
• Proven track record managing infrastructure projects (roads, utilities, networks) from mobilization to handover.
• Experience in large-scale construction or contracting companies is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of infrastructure construction methodologies.
• Proficiency in project management tools (Primavera P6, MS Project).
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, shop drawings, and specifications.
• Familiarity with local authority standards (water, sewage, electrical, telecom, roads).
• Ability to manage earthworks, utility diversions, and multi-contractor operations.
• Strong leadership and team-management capabilities.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Problem-solving mindset with strong decision-making ability.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
