Quantity Survey electrical Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Quantity Take-Off and Estimation:
  • Prepare accurate quantity take-offs and cost estimates for electrical works including cabling, lighting, power systems, fire alarms, ELV systems, etc.
  • Tendering & Procurement Support:
  • Assist in tender documentation, pricing, and technical evaluations. Support procurement with material and subcontractor cost analysis.
  • Cost Control & Budget Monitoring:
  • Monitor project expenditures for electrical scope; track variations and ensure alignment with project budgets and client approvals.
  • Valuation & Invoicing:
  • Prepare interim payment applications, final accounts, and variation claims. Coordinate with site engineers and project managers for validation.
  • Contract Administration:
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations related to electrical works; support negotiation and resolution of claims and disputes.
  • Reporting & Coordination:
  • Generate progress and financial reports. Coordinate with planning, engineering, and site execution teams to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of electrical works.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline such as Building Services Engineering. A Master's is a plus.
  • Professional Experience:
  • 4–6 years of experience specifically in quantity surveying for electrical works within the construction industry (MEP/Infrastructure/Commercial projects).
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications. Strong knowledge of materials, installation practices, and standards for electrical systems.
  • Software Proficiency:
  • Skilled in software tools like AutoCAD, MS Excel (advanced level), and Quantity Takeoff tools (e.g., Bluebeam, CostX, PlanSwift), as well as ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
  • Cost & Contract Knowledge:
  • Solid understanding of cost estimation, cost control, and contract administration (FIDIC or other standard forms of contract).
  • Certifications (Preferred):
  • RICS/CEng accreditation or working toward chartered status; certification in project management or quantity surveying is an advantage.
