Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented 
Junior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA)
 to join our IT department. The ideal candidate will assist in managing, maintaining, and supporting Oracle databases across development, testing, and production environments. This role is perfect for someone with foundational Oracle skills who is eager to learn and grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the 
    installation, configuration, and upgrading
     of Oracle database software and related products.
  • Support 
    database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery
     planning and execution.
  • Monitor database 
    performance, capacity, and security
    , identifying potential issues and assisting with tuning activities.
  • Help ensure 
    data integrity, availability, and reliability
     across all Oracle database instances.
  • Perform 
    routine maintenance tasks
    , such as patching, user account management, and log monitoring.
  • Collaborate with developers and system administrators to 
    optimize SQL queries and database performance
    .
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining 
    database security controls
     and access policies.
  • Participate in 
    on-call rotations
     and provide support for production systems as needed.
  • Document configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science
    , Information Technology, or a related field
     (or equivalent work experience).
  • 0–2 years of experience as a 
    Database Administrator, Database Analyst, or IT Support Specialist
     with exposure to Oracle environments.

Technical Skills:

  • Basic understanding of 
    Oracle Database architecture (versions 12c, 19c, or later)
    .
  • Familiarity with 
    SQL and PL/SQL
     programming.
  • Knowledge of 
    Linux/Unix
     operating systems and basic shell scripting.
  • Exposure to 
    Oracle Enterprise Manager
    , RMAN, and Data Pump utilities is a plus.
  • Understanding of 
    backup/recovery concepts, database security
    , and 
    performance tuning
     fundamentals.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Certifications

  • Oracle Certified Associate (OCA)
     or working toward certification.
  • Any additional database or cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, etc.) are advantageous.
