The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Back-End Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join our remote team from Egypt. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the core systems that power our online art gallery. The ideal candidate must be excellent at system design, problem-solving, and applying OOP principles and design patterns. We are looking for an expert who is passionate about designing robust systems and writing exceptionally clean, maintainable code to solve complex technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Design & Architecture: Lead architectural discussions and make high-level design choices to build a scalable, secure, and high-performance platform.
  • Feature Development: Architect and implement new back-end features, services, and APIs (e.g., RESTful, GraphQL) to support our web application.
  • Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code. Champion best practices, including OOP principles and modern design patterns.
  • Performance & Scalability: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimize database queries, and ensure our infrastructure can handle growing traffic.
  • Deployment & DevOps: Manage and streamline our deployment processes. You will be responsible for the CI/CD pipeline, containerization, and ensuring our applications are robust in production.
  • Problem-Solving: Tackle and solve complex logistical, transactional, and data-related problems inherent in an e-commerce platform.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in back-end development.
  • Location: Must be based in Egypt - Alexandria is prefered..
  • PHP Expertise: Expert-level knowledge of modern PHP (PHP 8+).
  • OOP & Design Patterns: Deep, practical understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and the ability to fluently apply design patterns to solve real-world problems.
  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Databases: Strong proficiency in relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL), including database design and query optimization.
  • English: Good professional working proficiency in English (for documentation and team communication).

Preferred Skills & Technologies

  • Frameworks: Deep experience with a major PHP framework, such as Laravel.
  • Deployment & DevOps: Hands-on experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins), and familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • APIs: Proven experience building and maintaining robust RESTful or GraphQL APIs.
  • Caching: Knowledge of caching technologies like Redis or Memcached.
  • Testing: A strong commitment to automated testing (e.g., PHPUnit, Pest).
  • Tools: Mastery of Git and a collaborative workflow.
