You will be working as R&D/Technology Manager, and will be the part of Electrification Business Area for Smart Buildings Division based in, 10th of Ramadan City, Egypt. In this role you will be reporting to R&D Department Lead will be responsible to leads and represents R&D operations in a particular location, country, or geography in order to reach agreed R&D targets, ensure delivery of R&D results to enhance ABB's position and profitability. Supports global R&D management develop medium
- and long-term technology and footprint strategies and ensures a fruitful and trust-based cooperation with other local R&D operations. Develops local strategies and targets that are in line with global strategies and targets.

**Your responsibilities**:

- Serve as the key technical entry point and high-level discussion partner for the country/region and global R&D management regarding technologies addressed by the local R&D organization, support global R&D management in the development of medium
- and long-term strategies, derive consistent local strategies and target and implement them in local organization.
- Build and maintain a culture of innovation, for and by attracting, motivating, and retaining creative R&D employees. Drive the evolution of mode of operation, cooperation, and capabilities in the local organization to ensure employees have the ability to challenge the status quo in technical issues, projects, tools and/or processes.
- Sets target and oversees planning of an appropriate project portfolio for the R&D unit, support team and department lead to plan capacity, people and resources for R&D projects and efficiently manage conflicts and oversees efficient, timely and quality project execution and ensures financial and content supervision over the projects. Drive development and improvement of processes, procedures, and tools to enhance local operations consistent with global processes and tools and oversees the achievement of appropriate development and quality standard.
- Stay on top of strategic technology, customer, and market developments to provide guidance regarding local areas of responsibility, work with global R&D management, other local R&D units and neighboring local organizations and management to ensure successful delivery of R&D results for the global organization. Ensure all fiduciary duties required locally are appropriately addressed.
- Support and oversees transfer of technology and knowledge within the local unit, to other local units and the larger organization as well as with external resources and communities, oversees the creation and management channels for sharing knowledge and state-of-the-art developments from different sources (CRCs, universities etc.).
- Build, develop, and maintain trust-based long-term relationships with internal (other R&D units, product management, operations, business management) and external (local customers, standardization bodies, universities, etc.) contacts on a strategic level, oversees appropriate participation from ABB in relevant national and/or international technical organizations and promote visibility and branding of R&D unit and its results externally and as needed internally. Ensure appropriate legal contracts for IP, NDAs etc. consistent with CHTET procedures, oversees management of risks and that appropriate consideration is given to IP issues when collaborating with other parties.

**Your background**:

- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- Master’s degree level in mechanical engineering/ industrial engineering or similar, and knowledge of some of the key technologies/products addressed in the unit
- 7-10 years of working experience, with demonstrated track record in product development and project management / technology lead.
- Demonstrable leadership skills, strong willingness to lead and coordinate, readiness to lead a team.
- Understanding of electrical and mechanical testing as well as certification will be of advantage. Experience in design with sheet metal and plastics will be a plus.
- Fluency in both English & Arabic languages is required.
