- Develop and interpret pneumatic schematics, P&IDs, and other technical diagrams related to air compression systems.
- Work on air receiver tanks, coolers, filters, and moisture separators that work with compressed air systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Conduct routine maintenance, including filter changes, seal and gasket replacement, and lubrication for air compressors.
- Troubleshoot issues like pressure fluctuations, overheating, excessive vibration, or air leaks in high, medium, and low-pressure systems.
- Work with compressor diagnostics tools such as vibration analyzers, pressure sensors, and flow meters to ensure system reliability.
- Integrate compressors with automated control systems, including pressure switches, flow control valves, and safety shut-offs.
- Use SCADA systems or other control systems to monitor air compressor performance and implement remote diagnostics.
- Oversee the installation and commissioning of high, medium, and low-pressure air compressors, ensuring proper integration with air receivers, cooling systems, and control panels.
- Conduct system start-up and performance testing to ensure compressors meet operational and safety standards.
- Troubleshoot and repair system faults, such as excessive pressure drops, vibration issues, or control system malfunctions.
- Use control systems and diagnostic tools to monitor compressor performance and implement preventive maintenance schedules to reduce downtime and energy consumption.
- Implement energy-saving measures and upgrades to increase the efficiency of compressed air systems.
- Provide timely and comprehensive inputs for the Monthly Status Report.
**Minimum Requirements**
- High School diploma or GED.
- 5 years of experience in working with high-pressure (HPAC), medium-pressure (MPAC), and low-pressure (LPAC) air compressors.
- Working experience in industries where air compression systems are critical, such as marine vessels (naval and commercial), industrial manufacturing, oil and gas, and HVAC systems.
- Working experience (hands-on) with air compression systems used in marine or offshore platforms, including systems aboard frigates, submarines, and other ships where compressed air is crucial.
- Working knowledge of HPAC systems, typically operating at 3,000 psi (200 bar) or higher.
- Working knowledge of multi-stage compression processes and intercooler systems used in HPACs.
- Working experience with LPAC systems, typically operating at 100-150 psi (7-10 bar), for systems like HVAC controls, cleaning systems, and general air distribution on ships or industrial facilities.
- Working knowledge of air dryer systems and filters used with LPAC systems to prevent moisture or contamination in sensitive equipment.
- Working knowledge of industry standards related to air compressors, such as ISO 8573 (Compressed Air Quality), ISO 1217 (Air Compressor Testing), and marine-specific regulations like ABS and DNV-GL.
- Working knowledge of safety protocols and regulations, including those from OSHA, IMO, and SOLAS, for safe operation and maintenance of air compressor systems.
- Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations for managing compressed air systems, particularly regarding moisture control, air quality, and noise pollution.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems, particularly in high-pressure situations where compressed air systems are critical to operations (e.g., aboard vessels).
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with engineers, technicians, and operators and diagnose and resolve compressor-related issues.
- Ability to lead or supervise teams responsible for air compressor installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
