**Location**: World Scout Bureau, Arab Support Centre (Cairo, Egypt)

**Summary
The Manager, Education Research and Development, serves as a vital member in the Arab Support

Centre and Global teams of Education, Research and Development. This role is responsible for

supporting the research and innovation efforts, particularly focusing on the field of Education. The

incumbent will spearhead the creation of evidence-based strategies, enhance educational
initiatives, and support NSOs by providing valuable insights and resources. Additionally, the

manager will represent Scouting in educational contexts, fostering partnerships and staying

abreast of global and Arab regional trends.

**Responsibilities**
- Lead the Educational teams within the region.
- Heading the research and innovation processes in the Arab region.
- Lead the support of volunteers in the Arab Scout Region (Adults in Scouting area)
- Develop a network of researchers, experts and supporters from academic institutions to

explore educational methods, innovation, organisational development, evaluation, and
impact.
- Foster growth in innovative educational methods for Scouting at local, national, regional

and international levels.
- Provide evidence to position WOSM and Scouting as a leading educational youth

movement in formal and non-formal education sectors.
- Collaborate with colleagues in all areas to enhance Education and Scouting's reputation as

the world's leading educational youth movement.
- Support the enhancement of educational methods, especially in online education and

learning.
- Develop content and plans for relevant learning opportunities, including e-learning, for

staff and volunteers at all levels.
- Establish and manage partnerships with academia, research, innovation, and non-formal

education entities.
- Represent Arab Scout Region externally in education platforms and stay updated on

external education trends and policies.
- Support WOSM in measuring the impact of Scouting in alignment with WOSM's monitoring

and evaluation framework.

**Job requirements**

**Experience, skills, and qualifications**
- Relevant academic qualifications in education, youth development, social science,

innovation, and impact measurement.
- Minimum five years’ professional experience in research in education, youth development,

innovation, or impact assessment.
- Scouting experience at national and/or international level is a must.
- Proficiency in designing research plans and methods, along with experience working with

academic and research partners.
- Demonstrated experience in external representation and strong project management skills.
- Ability to collaborate within an international and multicultural organisation.
- Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and written communication, with

internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in facilitation and presentation for delivering workshops and training.
- Knowledge of project management approaches, tools, and agile methods.
- Strong digital literacy with familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, Dropbox, Zoom, Slack,

and other digital collaboration tools.
- Fluency in Arabic and English is required (other languages are considered an asset).
- Proven problem-solving ability, resilience in stressful situations, and conflict-resolution

skills.

**Summary of employment**

**Terms and conditions**

The WSB offers a range of tangible and intangible working benefits. This is a full-time position with

parties.
- Salary paid monthly will be appropriate to the role.
- Position is based in the Arab Support Centre in Cairo, Egypt.
- Contractual hours of work are a minimum of 40 hours per week, Sunday through Thursday,

but additional hours may be required for the effective performance of the role for which

in the evenings and on weekends, when necessary.
- Holiday entitlement is 21 days per annum plus public holidays in the country where the

position is based.
