**Role Purpose**:
The newly formed role of Regional Chief Control Officer (CCO), CMB & GB directly supports the Chief Operating Officer (COO), HBEG CMB & GB within HSBC, one of the world’s largest banking and financial services organisations. The purpose of the CCO function is to enable colleagues within CMB & GB to deliver best in class service to all our customers, colleagues and the Bank itself. This will be achieved by:

- Enforcing robust risk governance and ensuring all stakeholders have visibility of key risks and remediation activity.
- Communicating and monitoring risk appetite in line with business requirements.
- Conducting high quality and efficient reviews of our control performance.
- Facilitating controls remediation where required.
- Raising awareness and understanding of risks, controls and risk management.
- Continuously improving the control and monitoring of risk, including behaviours.
- Supporting also BAU regulatory programmes including FATCA, CRS, Global Standards Ops, ORMF, CDD and others.
- Fully manages the end to end first line of defence Controls (BRCMs, RQA, and Risk Governance submissions / reporting).

The role is particularly critical in the context of increased internal, as well as external (e.g. PRA/FCA/FATCA) attention to identify, measure, evaluate, control and manage risk effectively. By ensuring that COO activities align to the CCO strategy, challenging senior leaders to avoid introduction of risk, will support the safe growth of the Bank. Accountabilities will include for CMB & GB:

- Executing of the Control strategy to improve risk and control management for CMB & GB.
- Providing control expertise and opining on the end to end health of the control environment across the CMB & GB businesses.
- Leading on the implementation of Group Risk policies and frameworks for Risk Management including embedding of Operational Risk Transformation actions and enforcing robust risk governance and ensuring all stakeholders have visibility of key risks and remediation activity.
- Managing internal and external audit requirements for CMB & GB.
- Frequent interface with CMB & GB Regional seniors on issues related to monitoring, controls, issues and remediation.
- Permanent and or as delegate senior representative on various risk forums.
- Increasing risk and control awareness and capability within the CMB& GB business leadership teams.
- Running and reporting the 1st line of defence reporting in the CMB & GB Risk Management meeting.
- Communicating and monitoring risk appetite in line with business requirements.
- Continuously improving and challenging of controls and monitoring of risk, including behaviours.
- Support BAU risk and regulatory programs including CEO Attestation, OEE, EWRA, FATCA, Global Standards, ORMF implementation, CDD and others.
- Oversee the outsourced controls in HOST, GSC and Functions, and ensure validation of the adequacy, efficiency and relevance of all outsourced controls linked to CMB & GB as a risk owners.

- Work with Regional BRCM and RQA teams to implement the CCO strategy, ensuring appropriate controls are implemented and monitored and that all services and technology are delivered in line with the Bank’s risk appetite whilst adhering to all regulatory requirements.
- Identify and proactively manage current and emerging risks related to changes to services, processes and systems, across all functions, delivered by or impacting CMB & GB and related functions.
- Deliver safer processes and technology, bringing rigour and consistency to controls testing across CMB & GB and addressing gaps in the completion of end to end risk and control activities. This will be achieved by implementing and overseeing governance processes, intervening in CMB & GB COO activities where necessary and agreeing subsequent actions with key senior managers,
- Enhance the control environment through the delivery of robust controls testing within CMB & GB

**Enable **the Bank**:

- Identify enhancements within CMB& GB and work with peer CMB & GB, outsourced or functional teams to implement enhancements, sharing with colleagues and stakeholders and facilitating proliferation of best practice across the Business.
- Facilitate senior management in decision making through insightful and concise recommendations from risk & control management reports.
