Since 2018, SUGARFREETALKS has been a grassroots, not-for-profit media platform based in Egypt, building inclusive spaces where artists across the SWANA region can express themselves and practice their craft. Our website and social media presence cover art, culture, identity, relationships, mental health, personal essays, and the everyday realities of living in the region, told with honesty, nuance, and zero sugarcoating. We're looking for visual artists (graphic artists and photographers) to join our creative team and help bring our vision to life visually — through graphic art, photographs, and illustrations that carry the same honesty and nuance. This is a volunteer position (we're an independent, self-funded platform and currently don't offer paid roles), but you'll get full creative ownership over your work, a byline/credit on every piece, and a genuine community of writers, photographers, and artists working on similar themes.

What you'll do
Contribute to a rotating visual calendar (roughly one to two pieces per month, flexible based on availability), with suggested monthly themes Occasionally collaborate directly with a writer to visually interpret their piece for Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn Who we're looking for: A distinctive visual style, we care more about a clear point of view than technical polish alone Genuine interest in culture, identity, and social topics relevant to SWANA Comfortable illustrating or designing around sensitive or under-discussed subjects with care and nuance Comfortable receiving and incorporating creative feedback All work must be your own, hand/human-made; we do not accept AI-generated "art" or generative AI tools of any kind for final artwork Why join: Build a public portfolio and credited byline Have the support of a like-minded artistic community Join and shape the visual identity of a platform with a values-aligned community that prioritises openness, inclusivity, and honest storytelling To apply: Fill in this EasyApply LinkedIn form.
