The Telecom Systems Business creates products and solutions catering for the worldwide telecommunications market, which is exploding with new and exciting opportunities offered by new developments such as 5G, Internet of Things, and virtualized radio access networks (RANs). The market consists of communication service providers, managed service providers, hosting companies, content delivery network companies, cloud service providers, and consumer/enterprise web-technology providers.

Our engineering team is responsible for the creation and delivery of great software products and solutions, as well as services offerings, for and to this market. The team works closely with a world-class product management team in defining and road-mapping the offerings.

What you’ll achieve
As a Software System Senior Engineer within the Telecom Co-innovation Expert Center, you will create products and solutions catering for the worldwide telecommunications market, which is exploding with new and exciting opportunities offered by new developments such as 5G, Internet of Things, and virtualized radio access networks (RANs). You will work with geographically dispersed teams and research groups on telecom innovation projects.
You will:

- Contribute to the research, design, implementation and test of solutions for telecom-focused projects.
- Drive towards component designs to produce re-usable artefacts, including documenting efforts to ensure reproducibility.
- Work directly with project leads to define requirements, understand design limitations and to jointly develop solutions, as well as providing progress updates to internal program leads.
- Contribute to process design and execution to improve team efficiency.
- Contribute to training materials for peers, customers, services and other stakeholders.

Essential Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of working experience in technology consulting or product development, including experience in Telecoms or Enterprise business segments, with demonstrated expertise in data modelling and the creation and use of metadata to enable observability.
- Hands-on experience with data engineering tooling surrounding the data collection and storage framework, including: data source specification; APIs to connect with data sources; collectors (e.g. Telegraf, customised software); data streaming (e.g. Kafka); data storage (e.g. influxDB, Apache HDFS, Prometheus, S3 bucket); aggregators (e.g. capacitor or custom software); indexing search and query (Elasticsearch); metadata; and visualisation (Grafana).
- Knowledge of Big Data Processing (e.g. Spark).
- Excellent understanding of the concept and core components of a generic data integration platform.
- A demonstrated ability to understand and interpret technically complex customer requirements to successfully design and implement solutions.

Desirable Requirements
- Understanding of AI and ML, as well as coding proficiency using related open source libraries and frameworks and experience deploying AI and ML models in enterprise production environments with modern design (API, microservices).
- Experience in developing a standardized architecture that advances data analytics, and AI/ML capabilities.
- Knowledge of Telecom Transformation with understanding of RAN, NFV, SDN, Kubernetes and automation for 5G RAN using a cloud-native approach.
- Knowledge of modern software development processes including test-driven development, DevOps/MLOps models, continuous integration, continuous testing, agile development with Jira/Git/Bitbucket/Confluence or similar platforms.
- Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and presentation, with the ability to develop strong relationships cross-functionally within the organisation, as well as with senior customer technologists.Note: working days will be from Monday to Friday.
