**Project Overview and Role**:
Trade Reform and Development in Egypt (TRADE) is a USAID funded project whose objective is to
increase Egypt’s international trade by increasing exports from small and medium-sized
enterprises (SMEs) in the activity’s “selected sectors”; Engineering Products, Food Processing,
Home têxtiles, Ready Made Garments, Chemicals, Printing and Packaging, and Building Materials
The TRADE Activity will achieve the following three Results:
1) Enhanced Export Capacity of SMEs, in particular New and Expanding Export
- Ready
Enterprises (NEEREs) in the Selected Sectors.
2) Strengthened Public and Private Trade-Support Institutions (e.g., Trade Associations,
Export Councils, etc.); and
3) Improved Trade and Investment Policy, Regulatory and Institutional Environment

***Primary Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Assignment Background**:
This training aims to cover mitigation tools for payment, performance, currency, and shipping risks
(among others), by exploring common credit and payment terms, lending products, shipping terms,
hedging strategies, insurance products, and more. By the end of this training session, the
participants should learn how to assess business lending opportunities that involve several
financial instruments, perform effective credit analyses, and structure facilities that strengthen trade
finance deals.

The objective of this assignment is to hire a short-term consultant who can give an overview to the
participants on the numerous financial solutions that are offered to businesses and how utilizing
the right financial tool can have a positive impact on their business. Furthermore, the consultant
should have knowledge of the best practices on how contracts and payment terms are structured.

**Tasks**:

- ** **Explain the fundamentals of the governing rules of trade finance.
- Provide knowledge on the role of financial institutions (such as: Banks and Chambers)
- Assist participants with understanding the mechanism of action of trade finance tools and
- their general risks.
- Identify common contract and payment terms used in global trade.
- Compare key trade finance instruments and credit products that are used globally.
- Provide clear concepts of process flow of complex methods like letter of credit, bank
guarantee and collections.
- Ensure that the participants understand the payment methods used in international trade,
Pros and Cons of each payment method, and how to select the tools fit to each business
model.

**Deliverables**:

- ** **Agenda structure and timeline.
- 1-day intensive program for FEC’s member companies, providing them with
needed knowledge about trade finance.
- Comprehensive manual on this training module.
- Brief USAID consultancy report describing the purpose of the consultancy,
progress achieved, observations, issues and/or problems encountered, and
details of expected follow-on activities by USAID TRADE or its stakeholders.

Total Level of Effort: 3 days

**Required Qualifications**:

- 7+ years of related experience in banking/trade finance
- Strong knowledge of successful international best practices
- Time management (in managing deliverables)
- Fluency in Arabic and English (verbal and written)
