At Axis, our mission is to build a more accessible and equitable financial platform to empower the over 100 million Egyptians with a particular focus on the 70 million unbanked Egyptians. We're doing so by building digital products to help increase accessibility to payments, money transfers, savings, and digital access to credit.

We are an early-stage startup founded by a team with previous experience in Fintech (mobile payments) in Egypt. Our founding team previously built Raseedy - Egypt's first independent open loop wallet licensed by the Central Bank of Egypt in partnership with SAIB bank.

We're all working out of our office at the Greek Campus in Cairo, Egypt.

Axis is on a mission on delivering the full financial inclusion of the unbanked and underbanked in Egypt. As a Data Science Lead, you will lead a team of Data Analysts and Data Scientists. This team will be responsible for not only informing our everyday decisions, but also building data products that will reside at the very core of our business.

**Responsibilities**:

- Creating and owning organization-wide data strategies
- Leading a team of data analysts and data scientists
- Owning, developing, and improving data analysis processes and practices
- Ensuring the growth and efficiency of all the team members and the data chapter as a whole
- Ensuring the quality, accuracy, and scalability of data products
- Ensuring that decision makers are getting relevant data in a timely manner
- Getting involved hands-on in building data products
- Collaborating with product managers and engineers in delivering outcome-oriented data products
- Collaborate with data engineering team in building internal data infrastructure

**Requirements**:

- 2+ years of experience leading teams of data professionals
- 5+ years of experience in the data science field
- Master's or Ph.D. degree in a relevant field (AI, Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics or similar)
- Proven experience in working with ML/AI-powered data solutions and products

The following would be considered a big advantage:

- Previous experience in FinTech industry or financial data
- Previous experience working in product-led organizations
