Transaction Monitoring Officer

**Transaction Monitoring Officer | UK or Malta - hybrid working environment**

**This role & opportunity**:
The Transaction Monitoring Officer will be a key member of our Compliance team, reporting directly into the Transaction Monitoring Manager and participating with the wider business in the UK and EU.

You will possess a strong working knowledge of anti money laundering regulation and activity in the UK and EU including, transaction monitoring, fraud detection, suspicious activity, onboarding and risk. You will also have the balanced communication style required to support and work with department heads and management to ensure Weavr remains compliant.

We are looking for a sharp, confident, commercially minded individual, who can quickly identify control deficiencies, provide solutions and is happy to roll their sleeves up to ensure diligent maintenance of a robust and proportionate AML control framework.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide support to customers with investigation and analysis of Transaction Monitoring Alerts generated by the Hawk AI Transaction Monitoring System.
- Conducting, documenting targeted and thorough investigations into customers and the activity seen on their accounts
- Assess alerts/false positives to identify potential Money Laundering, fraud or terrorism financing activity
- Identify customer profiles & conduct alert investigations
- Maintain detailed records of all investigations and findings, provide rationale for decision
- Review and manage alerts within agreed timelines
- Carry out Transaction Monitoring investigations on generated alerts by analysing transaction data and customer profile information in order to determine if the alerts can be closed or require escalation
- Support production of high-quality Suspicious Activity Reports and internal reports or briefings with appropriate recommendations, lessons learned and suggested remedial actions arising as an output of your investigation
- Maintains familiarity with appropriate transaction investigation techniques to support AML activities
- Analyse, evaluate and mitigate the financial crime risks associated with transaction monitoring
- Proactively seek solutions for potential issues and escalating as required
- Support EU Compliance team on ad hoc risk control, onboarding and wider projects where required
- Carry out financial crime compliance testing with a risk based approach as per the Annual Compliance Monitoring Plan and communicating reporting and solution of issues

**Your experience and background**:

- Experience working within the the banking industry (EMI, regulated fintech, banks and/or Regulator)
- 2-4 years + experience working within a similar role
- Strongly all round financial crime and transaction monitoring experience
- Proficient in the English language (other languages welcome also)
- Demonstrable track-record of working within financial crime regulatory regimes including coverage of AML, ABC, onboarding, fraud, onboarding, sanctions and CTF risk and associated compliance frameworks
- Effective influencer across all levels and business areas
- Familiar with working in pressurised and high volume environments
- The ability to take initiative and present resolution to gaps in compliance frameworks
- A desire keep strong pace with changes to current and upcoming regulations and market practice
