As an Engineering Manager at Weaveworks, you’ll help grow and nurture an engineering organisation that is well-regarded, diverse, and regarded as experts in their field.

In your role you’ll lead a team of talented engineers in Egypt, collaborating with peers world-wide in a well-regarded remote-first company in the Cloud/Kubernetes space.

**Responsibilities**
- You’ll work with our CTO to grow and nurture an engineering organisation that is well-regarded, diverse, and regarded as experts in their field.
- Help us balance engineering efforts that both serve a community and contribute directly to revenue generation.
- Manage and collaborate with distributed and remote engineering teams.
- Grow a healthy and collaborative global engineering team by recruiting and retaining amazing software engineers.
- Coach and mentor individuals and teams to help them realise their full potential.
- Partner with other engineering managers to define, advance and advocate the principles of our engineering standards, practices and vision.
- Partner with Product Management to align engineering priorities so that we deliver rapid value to our customers and open source community users.
- Contribute to strategic planning.
- Continue to build your profile, represent Weaveworks with clients and in open source community contexts.
- Collaborate with your peers, teams, product management and our exec team to create a co-ordinated product stack across open source and commercial offerings.

**Skills and Experience**
- You’re a former software engineer who has moved into an engineering leadership role - preferably in an agile, open-source-leaning environment.
- Finding an organisation that would make great use of your intelligence, integrity, ideas and inquisitive nature is really important to you right now.
- You have a track record of helping high-performing, highly technical, remote-first teams ship great products.
- You have a pragmatic approach to agile processes and organisational change management.
- Building balanced and inclusive teams while scaling fast is important to you.
- You have an interest in or prior experience in leading or contributing to open source projects.
- You have experience or familiarity with Kubernetes and/or Cloud-native development and tooling.
- You have experience with Go and/or React and are comfortable in technical conversations as part of your day-to-day (you are not expected to write code in this role, but a technical background is still critical).
