Teaching Assistant

**COMPANY DESCRIPTION**:
:
The Teaching Assistant will be assisting the instructor in teaching English Language for visually impaired students. The objective is to provide assistance to the students, facilitate access to curricula, and handle administrative tasks as requested by instructor.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Tasks and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Photocopy and organize instructional material requested by Access instructor for visually impaired students
- Organize instructor’s classroom supplies, seating and materials before the class
- Supervise students during breaks, before classes begin, and after classes end
- Informing students of unsafe activities and or actions during breaks, before classes begin and after classes end
- Record student attendance and inform education support representative of absences
- Inform Access instructor of discrepancies with student roster and actual attendees
- Support students who require additional assistance in class and during breaks
- Verify that classroom educational resources, available seating and classroom setup before classes begin are consistent with instructor’s request.
- Assist instructor in providing suitable learning environment by promoting class management
- Assist instructor to manage student behavior in the classroom and outside the classroom by enforcing pre-established rules and procedures
- Participate in teaching assistant program meetings, information sessions and trainings
- Provide specialized assistance to visually impaired students
- Facilitate access to curricula
- Under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher, may give classroom instruction and assist in completing assignments and tasks
- Travel as a chaperone in Cairo and to different governments to ensure Access students’ safety and support during field trips and camps
- Accompany students during breaktimes, outside of classroom and as needed
- Support in administering tests and may support in scoring them
- Perform other tasks as needed

**QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS**:

- REQUIRED_
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Education, English
- Excellent computer skills (windows, Microsoft Office)
- Excellent organizational skills
- PREFERRED_
- Willingness to learn and take on increasing responsibilities
- Ability and willingness to work in a challenging and dynamic environment
