The Architecture Technical Office Engineer is responsible for preparing, coordinating, reviewing, and controlling all architectural technical documents, shop drawings, and site support activities to ensure accurate execution of works according to design intent, specifications, budget, and project timeline.

The role acts as the
technical link between design consultants, site execution teams, and management
, ensuring constructability, compliance, and quality delivery.

Key Responsibilities

1) Shop Drawings & Technical Submittals

  • Prepare detailed architectural shop drawings (plans, elevations, sections, details).
  • Develop finishing details (flooring, cladding, ceilings, joinery, façade systems, waterproofing).
  • Issue coordinated drawings for construction.
  • Review subcontractor shop drawings for accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare material submittals, method statements, and samples.
  • Ensure drawings match IFC, specs, and BOQ.

2) Coordination (Multi-discipline)

  • Coordinate with:
  • Structural
  • MEP
  • Façade
  • Interior design
  • Resolve clashes and conflicts before site execution.
  • Participate in BIM/model coordination when applicable.
  • Attend coordination and consultant meetings.

3) Site Technical Support

  • Provide technical clarification to site engineers.
  • Respond to RFIs.
  • Conduct site visits to verify execution matches drawings.
  • Propose technical solutions for site issues.
  • Support mockups and sample approvals.

4) Quantity Surveying & Cost Support

  • Extract quantities from drawings.
  • Assist in BOQ preparation and revisions.
  • Review subcontractor quantities and variations.
  • Evaluate change orders and claims technically.
  • Support procurement with technical specs.

5) Document Control & Compliance

  • Maintain drawing logs and revision control.
  • Ensure latest approved drawings are used on site.
  • Prepare as-built drawings.
  • Ensure compliance with:
  • Contract documents
  • Local codes
  • Consultant standards
  • Authority requirements

6) Planning & Progress Monitoring

  • Support planning team with activity sequencing.
  • Track technical deliverables against schedule.
  • Monitor shop drawing approvals timeline.
  • Highlight risks or delays.

7) Quality & Standards

  • Ensure execution meets architectural quality standards.
  • Review materials and finishes against specifications.
  • Support snagging and handover process.
  • Participate in inspections with consultants.

Software

  • AutoCAD (Advanced)
  • Revit / BIM (preferred)
  • Excel (quantities & reports)

Qualifications

  • B.Sc. in Architecture Engineering
  • 3–7 years experience (mid-level)
  • or 7+ years (Senior level)
  • Experience in real estate / residential / mixed-use projects preferred
