Database Skills: Ability to write SQL queries (Joins, Selects, Updates) to verify data integrity in the backend.

2. Automation & Scripting (The "Modern" Requirement)

Programming: Foundational knowledge of a language like JavaScript, Python, or Java.

Version Control: Basic use of Git (branching, committing, and pulling code).

CI/CD: Understanding how testing fits into automated pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins).

3. Analytical & Soft Skills

The "Tester Mindset": The ability to think like a user while simultaneously trying to "break" the system.

Attention to Detail: Noticing small UI inconsistencies or slight performance lags that others might miss.

Critical Thinking: Prioritizing which bugs are "showstoppers" and which are minor based on business impact.

Clear Communication: Translating complex technical bugs into simple, actionable steps for developers.

4. Education & Certifications

Degree: Typically a B.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.

ISTQB Certification: The ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) is the global gold standard and often a prerequisite for large enterprises.

Agile Experience: Working knowledge of Scrum/Kanban ceremonies (Stand-ups, Sprint Planning).
