Job Purpose:

The job of Purchasing Specialist has been emerged for the purpose of determining procurement methods and initiating bidding processes; procuring packaging materials of assigned product(s)lines; recommending bid awards; preparing, checking, verifying and maintaining vendor records and supporting documents; providing guidance on order processing; documenting activities in accordance with district purchasing requirements

Job Description

Main Responsibilities

  • Selection of approved suppliers based on price, quality, service, support, availability, reliability, production, distribution capabilities, and supplier's reputation and legacy
  • Negotiate with suppliers to achieve the best packaging material price and the best service
  • Source and purchase packaging materials for production needs
  • Review purchase requests received in terms of lead time, quantity, need by date & inventory of each material to guarantee maximum value for the company
  • Analyze price proposals and other data to determine the reasonable prices & terms
  • Prepare price comparisons to ensure compliance with the agreed contract price & material purchase history
  • Prepare purchase orders and manages it's approval process
  • End-to-end monitoring of shipments to ensure that the goods are delivered on time and follow up undelivered goods or problems trace shipments
  • Review approved suppliers for each packaging material on a regular basis, to ensure that there are at least two approved suppliers for each material, & set an action plan to fulfill this objective
  • Follow up on ongoing orders with the suppliers to ensure its compliance with the required date
  • Support cost-saving initiatives through data analysis and supplier comparisons
  • Generate purchase order as requested ensuring on time delivery of the required quantities and quality
  • Share purchase report reflecting the status of purchase orders even they are ongoing or done orders
  • Review supplier's performance on a regular basis

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field
  • 1–3 years of experience in purchasing
    highly desirable in Pharmaceuticals
  • Experience with packaging materials is a must
  • Basic knowledge of procurement, negotiation, and ERP systems
  • Strong coordination skills and attention to detail
