Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Software Development Manager based in Cairo, Egypt, with flexibility for some remote work. The Software Development Manager will oversee and guide software development projects, lead teams, design software solutions, and manage distributed systems. Responsibilities will also include ensuring timely project delivery and maintaining high-quality engineering practices while collaborating cross-functionally to meet organizational goals.

Qualifications

·      Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or related field.

·      Proven experience in a technical leadership role, preferably as an Engineering Manager.

·      Experience in project management and agile methodology software.

·      Knowledge of computer programming languages (C, Java, .Net, SQL).

·      Proven track record of managing software projects and teams of various sizes, complexities, and domains while delivering software products and systems that meet the quality, budget, and timeline requirements. They should have a solid understanding of software engineering principles, methodologies, tools, and technologies such as agile, scrum, git, Java, and Python.

Duties / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Team Leadership:

·      Running daily or weekly standups to monitor team progress and having individual meetings to check in on team members' development, concerns, and challenges.

·      Review team members' work, giving feedback, conducting performance reviews, and addressing any performance issues.

·      Determining the need for training and talent development.

·      Lead and manage the engineering team, promoting a culture of technical excellence, career growth and innovation

·      Responsible for all engineering continuous improvement processes

·      Addressing any interpersonal issues within the team and ensuring a positive work environment.

·      Provide technical guidance and support to the engineering team.

·      Continuously seek opportunities to improve team productivity and efficiency.

Project Management:

·      Collaborating with product managers to plan sprints, track progress, and report project status to stakeholders.

·      Plan and oversee projects, ensuring they are completed in a timely fashion and within budget

·      Track project progress, and present regular updates reports to senior management

·      Adjust team resources to ensure that projects have the necessary manpower and expertise.

·      Plan and executing strategies for completing projects on time.

Recruiting & Hiring:

·      Participate in the hiring process to attract and retain top engineering talent.

·      Conducting technical interviews with the potential candidates.

Hire, train, and retain software engineers while ensuring they have the necessary skills, tools, and resources to do their jobs effectively.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

·      Attending meetings with other departments (e.g., product, design, sales) to align goals and clarify requirements.

·      Coordinate with other departments to identify requirements and integrate new technologies

·      Provide support and expertise to departments to resolve ongoing or difficult problems

·      Communicate project needs and metrics to other managers and teams.

Technical Oversight:

·      Monitor and strive to improve the performance of project processes

·      Develop and implement engineering standards and procedures to maintain high-quality outcomes

·      Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation.

·      Review code and architecture to ensure best practices and maintainability.

·      Identify and implement best practices for software development processes, including agile methodologies.

·      Plan, coordinate, and oversee the software development lifecycle from requirements analysis to testing and deployment
