About the Role

We're looking for a skilled 
iOS Developer
 to join our team and take ownership of maintaining and enhancing 
EGIPA
, our flagship mapping application currently available on the App Store. The Android version is under development, and we plan to continue expanding EGIPA's functionality across platforms and new markets.

You will be responsible for building new features, optimizing app performance, and ensuring seamless integration with our backend systems and mapping data services. You'll work closely with our CTO and cross-functional teams, including GIS specialists, backend developers, and UI/UX designers.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, update, and enhance the existing EGIPA iOS application.
  • Develop new features based on product roadmaps, such as user accounts, augmented reality navigation, and POI contribution systems.
  • Integrate APIs for maps, location services, search, and analytics.
  • Optimize app performance, responsiveness, and battery efficiency.
  • Collaborate with backend developers to ensure smooth communication between app and server.
  • Implement secure data handling practices (e.g., user data, GPS history, uploads).
  • Identify and fix bugs and stability issues.
  • Participate in design discussions and contribute to improving the user experience.
  • Ensure compliance with App Store guidelines and manage release submissions.

Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Strong proficiency in 
    Swift
     and 
    Swift UI
     (minimum 3 years of experience).
  • Familiarity with 
    Objective-C
     for maintaining legacy components.
  • Solid understanding of 
    iOS frameworks
     such as Core Location, MapKit, Core Data, and UIKit.
  • Experience with 
    Apple Maps
    , 
    Mapbox
    , or other GIS/mapping SDKs.
  • Knowledge of 
    RESTful APIs
     and 
    JSON
     data handling.
  • Familiarity with 
    Firebase
    , 
    Push Notifications
    , and 
    In-App Purchases
    .
  • Experience with version control (Git/GitHub).
  • Strong debugging, optimization, and profiling skills.

Preferred / Bonus Skills

  • Experience with 
    ARKit
     and 
    CoreML
     (for AR-based navigation features).
  • Exposure to 
    offline map caching
     or 
    tile rendering
    .
  • Experience with 
    CI/CD pipelines
     (e.g., Fastlane).
  • Previous work on 
    location-based
     or 
    mapping apps
    .

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • 3–5+ years of proven iOS development experience.
  • Published one or more apps on the App Store (preferably location or map-based).
  • Strong attention to detail and passion for clean, maintainable code.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
